The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is seeking a Colorado licensed dentist to provide oral health services 8-24 hours per week at our downtown clinics. Come meet our mission driven, highly skilled oral health team.
NOTE: In order to ensure that our consumers receive the best possible care the candidate chosen to fill this position will be required to complete our internal credentialing and privileging process prior to a start date. The credentialing and privileging timeline is dependent on the selected candidate's submission of documents necessary for clearance. Please note that a start date will be scheduled once credentialing and privileging is complete.
Additional Requirement
    • Valid driver's license required. This requirement may be waived, if necessary, based on overall candidate experience and current needs of the business.
Essential Job Functions
    • Provides care in the following disciplines of a general dental practice: diagnosis, preventive dentistry, operative dentistry, pedodontics, periodontics, removable prosthodontics, and endodontics.
    • Makes an assessment of oral health status by:
    • obtaining a relevant health and medical history
    • obtaining radiographs as required to assess dental status
    • performing oral/head and neck cancer screen
    • performing intra-oral exam, including hard and soft tissues
    • Coordinates referrals to specialty services or for special populations (i.e., children) in order to meet patient needs that exceed the practitioner's scope of practice and limitations of the facility.
    • Formulates comprehensive dental treatment plan to restore to optimal oral health and presents treatment plan to patient, providing patient with treatment options as appropriate.
    • Undertakes implementation of the dental treatment plan and proper sequencing of treatment, including: emergency treatment, disease control, restoration and reconstruction (prosthodontics) and recall.
    • Facilitates patient participation in obtaining oral health and provides oral hygiene instruction.
    • Assumes administrative responsibility for organization and day to day operation of the dental program in absence of the Dental Director. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Directing the assignments of and supervising the work of all, hygienists, dental assistants and other assigned personnel including volunteer staff.
    • Maintaining compliance with all state, federal and OSHA regulations, including any clinic and equipment inspections as required by law.
    • Overseeing the ordering supplies to provide optimal dental care.
    • Ensuring efficient scheduling that provides high quality dentistry to as many patients as possible.
    • Maintaining adherence to Dental Principles of Practice including, but not limited to, quality assurance reviews and periodic radiation safety inspections (as required by Colorado law).
    • Maintaining sterilization techniques and overall cleanliness of the clinic.
    • Setting standards of care and supervising the dental staff to assure quality of care.
    • Attending conferences and meetings of dental importance as assigned.
    • Participates as a team member in the provision of health care, interacting with professional colleagues to achieve optimal patient health status.
    • Maintains accurate, legible, and confidential patient records.
    • Recognizes the importance of self-directed continued learning by attending continuing education classes, periodically reviewing current literature, and maintaining licensure in compliance with current state law.
    • Writes policies and procedures and performs other administrative duties as assigned.
    • Maintains a work environment that is marked by respect for others; that values inclusiveness and builds workforce diversity; and that fosters cooperation and teamwork.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications Summary
    • Graduation from a School of Dentistry accredited by the American Dental Association required.
    • License to practice dentistry in the State of Colorado required.
    • Current DEA licensure and Life Support certification required.
    • Completion of a one-year General Practice Residency preferred.
    • Two years' experience in the practice of general dentistry preferred.
$64.30 - $90.20 an hour

Licensed health care providers may earn funds towards student loans in exchange for a two-year commitment at an NHSC-approved site through this program.
[Language for RN/LPN postings only - Remove if not needed] Qualified candidates are eligible for the NURSE Corps Loan Repayment Program which offers payment of 60% of unpaid nursing education debt in exchange for a two-year commitment at a NURSE Corps approved site with an option to extend to a third year for an additional 25% of the original balance.
