Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Research and data driven, Goldbelt Professional Services' experts create solutions customized to the client's needs. Summary: The Health Communications Specialist II provides creative and design support for CDC Vaccine Safety (VS) communication initiatives across multiple programs. This role develops visually compelling, accessible, and user-centered communication products-including print, digital, social, and video assets-while ensuring compliance with CDC branding, Clear Communication Index standards, and Section 508 requirements.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- The contractor shall support development of various VS communication products for programs across the agency (i.e., materials could support DHQP's vaccine safety topics for NCIRD, response-led activities). Provide design expertise to Communication Lead within short deadlines. The contractor shall understand UX/UI (User Experience Design/User Interface Design) best practices.
- Growing and maintaining CDC's VS aesthetic by conceptualizing and executing asset creation, including participating in creative briefs
- Proactively interpret graphic needs and offer solutions/recommendations of reviewed needs to VS Communications Lead and DHQP Communications Team Directors
- Participate in VS team meetings, as requested.
- Understand the 508 requirements and utilize that knowledge to create 508 Clearance documents.
- Create a variety of health communication and social marketing materials, new promotional materials, and/or existing creative for VS communication.
- Design suites of materials for the relevant audiences and use, where appropriate, MLS-approved translations.
- Support video production on topics related to VS, including developing a production timeline, proposing visuals and storyboards to CDC staff, editing the final video per the program's requests, and delivering a fully captioned video for CDC clearance. A Software Request Tool file will also be needed.
- Develop draft and final design materials, including but not limited to print materials, Web content, reports, scripts, presentations, and infographics -meeting the CDC Clear Communication Index and 508 Compliance standards.
- Responsible for ensuring that all graphic design, materials, or other deliverables comply with HHS/CDC branding guidelines as necessary by reviewing designs, materials, and deliverables.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based public health environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three (3) or more years of professional experience developing visual or health communication materials.
- Demonstrated experience creating print and digital design products, such as infographics, presentations, reports, and web content.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related field.
