The Occupational Health EMR Compliance Specialist serves a dual function within UCR's Occupational Health Program, providing leadership and coordination in two critical areas: electronic medical record (EMR) compliance and the Campus Animal Occupational Health Program. The role requires close collaboration with Environmental Health Safety and Risk Management (EHSRM) leadership, Information Technology, Occupational Health providers, Researchers, Biosafety Staff, Student Health Services, and third-party vendors to ensure that programs are compliant with federal, state, and UC policies, including HIPAA, CMIA, Cal/OSHA, and IACUC requirements. The incumbent leads the coordination and implementation of UCR's Occupational Health EMR system, ensuring proper access controls, privacy safeguards, and accurate documentation; and providing administrative and analytical support to improve EMR workflows. This role combines technical system support, regulatory compliance oversight, user training, and data analytics to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant operation of Occupational Health's EMR system, including support for system upgrades, incident response, and continuous process improvement. As coordinator for the Animal Occupational Health Program, the incumbent facilitates health and safety clearances for individuals working with animals in vivaria, ensuring readiness for animal protocol engagement in accordance with UC and IACUC policy. The position also supports continuous improvement of program operations and procedures and serves as a point of contact for participants navigating the clearance process. University of California career employees who have passed their probationary period will receive priority consideration for this position. If a qualified pool from the UC system is not identified, qualified external candidates may be considered at the discretion of the hiring department. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.
