Overview

The Data Engineer - Data Fabric Architecture designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms using modern lakehouse principles. This role supports enterprise data initiatives through Python-based development and implementation of medallion architecture patterns (bronze, silver, gold). The Data Engineer collaborates with analytics, business, and technology teams to deliver trusted, high-quality data that enables reporting, advanced analytics, AI, and data-driven decision-making.

As with any VSolvit position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and modern orchestration tools
  • Build and optimize lakehouse architectures following medallion-layer best practices
  • Develop ingestion, transformation, and data quality processes for structured and unstructured data sources
  • Support analytics and reporting teams with curated, high-performance datasets
  • Collaborate on data governance, metadata management, and data lineage initiatives
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, performance, and security of the data platform
  • Support enterprise data modernization efforts using platforms such as Microsoft Fabric
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline and platform issues

Required Qualifications

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and modern orchestration tools
  • Build and optimize lakehouse architectures following medallion-layer best practices
  • Develop ingestion, transformation, and data quality processes for structured and unstructured data sources
  • Support analytics and reporting teams with curated, high-performance datasets
  • Collaborate on data governance, metadata management, and data lineage initiatives
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, performance, and security of the data platform
  • Support enterprise data modernization efforts using platforms such as Microsoft Fabric
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline and platform issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools and modern analytics architectures
  • Experience supporting enterprise analytics, BI, or AI initiatives
  • Experience working in cloud-based or large-scale data environments
