IT Department

The IT organization at Vantage Data Centers operates as an integrated service function within the broader CIO organization, which includes five peer departments: IT, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Process & Governance, and Enterprise Strategy & Delivery. This structure enables coordinated delivery of technology capabilities while maintaining specialized expertise in critical domains.

The IT department delivers foundational technology services across Infrastructure, Network, IT Service Desk, and IT Service Delivery (Engineering). We design, deploy, operate, and continuously improve the global infrastructure, networking, end-user support, and operational frameworks that power business operations across our expanding data center portfolio. Our focus balances operational excellence with strategic capability building, ensuring reliable service delivery today while positioning the organization for sustained growth.

Position Overview

This role can be based remotely anywhere in the United States.

Vantage Data Centers seeks an operationally excellent technology executive to lead the global IT organization as Vice President of Information Technology. This role owns accountability for four critical teams, Infrastructure, Network, IT Service Desk, and IT Service Delivery (Engineering), ensuring world-class reliability, operational discipline, and measurable service performance across our expanding global footprint.

This is fundamentally an operational leadership role focused on execution excellence, team development, and service delivery at scale. The VP IT ensures foundational technology services operate with predictable reliability, meet defined SLAs, and scale efficiently to support business growth across North America, EMEA, and APAC regions. While strategic input is expected, particularly regarding technology roadmaps, vendor partnerships, and capacity planning, the primary mandate is delivering operational excellence through disciplined processes, strong team leadership, and relentless focus on service quality.

The role requires deep collaboration with peer department leaders in the CIO organization. You will partner closely with the AI department to enable intelligent automation and provide infrastructure for AI workloads, with Cybersecurity to embed security-by-design principles, with Enterprise Strategy & Delivery to sequence and execute strategic programs, and with Process & Governance to mature operational standards and compliance frameworks. This collaborative model demands a leader who builds consensus, communicates transparently, and navigates cross-functional dependencies diplomatically while maintaining clear accountability for IT operational outcomes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead global IT operations across Infrastructure, Network, IT Service Desk, and IT Service Delivery teams, ensuring 24x7 service availability, rapid incident response, and consistent service quality across all regions. Establish and govern operational KPIs, SLAs, and performance metrics that provide transparency and enable data-driven continuous improvement.
  • Oversee global infrastructure including datacenter operations, virtualization platforms, storage systems, database administration, and hybrid cloud environments. Ensure network infrastructure delivers continuous, secure connectivity across 69+ data centers and office locations through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and structured change management.
  • Direct IT Service Desk operations delivering tier 1-3 support globally through MSP partnerships and internal teams, targeting 70%+ first contact resolution. Lead Enterprise Lifecycle Management including device procurement, standardized provisioning, three-year refresh cycles, and automated onboarding/offboarding workflows integrated with Workday and ServiceNow.
  • Guide IT Service Delivery (Engineering) team in building operational frameworks, automation platforms, cloud governance (Azure/M365 CCoE and FinOps), IT service catalogs, and ITIL process maturity. Drive infrastructure automation initiatives that transform manual processes into repeatable workflows while optimizing cloud costs and operational efficiency.
  • Partner closely with AI department to enable intelligent automation initiatives, provide infrastructure for AI workloads and platforms, and integrate AI capabilities into IT operational processes. Collaborate with Cybersecurity to embed security-by-design principles, Enterprise Strategy & Delivery to execute strategic programs, and Process & Governance to mature operational standards and compliance frameworks.
  • Leverage strategic vendor partnerships to deliver large-scale infrastructure redesigns, network modernization, end-of-life equipment replacements, and growth initiatives. Conduct gap analyses, develop remediation plans, guide vendor selection and performance oversight, and establish clear KPIs and accountability frameworks ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Drive infrastructure standardization, technology refresh cycles, firmware upgrades, and construction partnership support for new facility builds. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate enterprise agreements, and conduct technology evaluations that position Vantage for competitive advantage while optimizing costs and maintaining supportability.
  • Build, mentor, and elevate high-performing global teams rooted in accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.   • Contribute to enterprise technology strategy and roadmap development, provide strategic perspective on modernization opportunities, conduct proactive capacity planning, and serve as advisor to CIO and executive leadership on technology investments and operational initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, technical, and programmatic risks across IT functions. Drive resiliency, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning while ensuring operations align with governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards.

Job Requirements

  • 12-15+ years managing global IT operations, data center environments, and large-scale infrastructure with demonstrated operational excellence and service delivery at scale. 5-7+ years in senior leadership roles overseeing enterprise IT in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure, networking, datacenter operations, end-user computing, IT service delivery, and modern technology stacks including hybrid cloud, virtualization, software-defined networking, and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong operational foundation including ITIL service management, incident/problem management, change control, configuration management, SLA governance, and KPI-driven performance management with proven track record delivering large-scale infrastructure projects and transformation programs.
  • Exceptional communicator capable of influencing executives and stakeholders globally while translating technical complexity into business language. Proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams with track record of talent development and creating cultures of accountability and excellence.
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering, operations, security, AI, governance, and business functions with ability to build consensus and navigate organizational complexity diplomatically. Strategic thinker who contributes to technology vision while maintaining operational focus and execution discipline.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related technical field (or equivalent experience). MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred, particularly for candidates interested in CIO succession trajectory.
  • Data center or colocation industry experience preferred. Experience managing global operations across multiple time zones (NA, EMEA, APAC) and partnering with AI or analytics teams valued. Familiarity with Microsoft technology stack (Azure, M365, Intune) beneficial.
  • Travel required is expected to be up to 20% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $260,000-$285,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)
