Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking a Quality Intern based in Indianapolis, IN. This role will report directly to the AVP Quality. The Quality Intern is responsible for supporting quality assurance initiatives, product testing, process improvement projects, and compliance activities while gaining hands-on experience in quality management systems across dormakaba's manufacturing operations.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $ 19.00-$23.00 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.

What you will do
  • Assist in conducting product inspections, testing, and quality audits to ensure compliance with dormakaba's quality standards and customer specifications
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes by collecting and analyzing quality data, identifying trends, and documenting non-conformances
  • Participate in quality improvement projects using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce defects and enhance product reliability
  • Help maintain and update quality documentation including inspection reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality metrics dashboards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to investigate quality issues and implement preventive measures
What we require
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • Completion of at least sophomore year with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Basic understanding of quality management principles, statistical process control, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with strong analytical and data analysis skills
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to follow procedures accurately and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
What we prefer
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar industry standards
  • Knowledge of statistical tools and software (Minitab, JMP, or similar) for data analysis and process capability studies
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma concepts, or quality improvement methodologies (5S, 8D, FMEA)
  • Experience with measurement equipment and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.)
  • Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on experience in a manufacturing or quality assurance environment
