Position Summary
The position serves as the primary resource for students who enroll using the Tuition Assistance Program ( TAP). Duties including enforcing USG deadlines, processing, eligibility verifications, notifications, resolving issues, etc. The position is also responsible for responding to a wide range of questions on tuition classification and out-of-state waivers. The position additionally serves as a School Certifying Official for Veterans Educational Benefits at UGA. This includes advising benefits-eligible students regarding their educational benefits as well as processing necessary forms to ensure students receive their VA benefits in a timely manner. The employee also serves students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, departmental offices, and the general public with regards to a wide variety of issues and concerns related to registration and student records at the University

Manage Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Compliance and Processing

  • Oversee day to day processing for the TAP program at UGA.
  • Manage the tap@uga.edu email address and respond to written inquiries regarding eligibility, policies and practices.
  • Manage a high volume of submitted TAP applications, evaluate for accuracy and completion
  • Correspond to applicants to resolve incomplete submissions.
  • Maintain internal spreadsheets of TAP applicants with academic and financial information required to process the benefit.
  • Verify each applicant for employment eligibility using OneUSG Connect.
  • Verify each applicant for academic eligibility using Banner.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between the TAP waivers and internal records.
  • Prepare reports each term for the Payroll Office for submission to USG.
  • Monitor and send notifications to applicants regarding deadlines, updates, and confirmation of awarded waivers.
  • Assist with annual audits.

In State Residency Petition and Out of State Waiver Support

  • Answer a wide range of questions generated from current and prospective students, faculty, and staff as well as the general public regarding eligibility, policies and practices.
  • Recommend appropriate options for individuals in petitioning or obtaining an out of state waiver.
  • Prepare packages for committee review.
  • Communicate decisions via email.
  • Ensure documentation is archived in the document imaging system
  • Review and comply with changing USG regulations and attend annual training.
  • Assist with annual audits.

Veterans Educational Benefits Assistance

  • Assist VA students and their eligible dependents with applying for educational benefits including gathering the appropriate documentation from those students and then working with the Department of Veteran Affairs on ensuring benefits are applied in a timely manner.
  • Read, interpret, and apply eligibility regulations.
  • Be aware of VA policy changes and maintain compliance.
  • Assist with maintaining written policy and step-by-step procedures for certifying.
  • Monitor eligible VA students'/dependents' academic progress and maintain academic records.
  • Assist with reviewing and responding to audits.

General Academic Support

  • Serve as a resource for students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, departmental offices and the general public regarding a wide variety of issues and concerns related to registration and student records at the University.
  • Answer a wide range of questions/issues generated from students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni in person, through the four office email accounts or on the phone.
  • Liaise with other offices, such as the EITS helpdesk, the Office of the Student Financial Aid, the Office of International Education, the Equal Opportunity Office, Student Conduct, Academic Honesty, etc.
