Torch is seeking Junior Software Safety Engineers to support the identification, analysis, mitigation, and verification of software and firmware safety risks for DoW missile systems, command and control (C2BMC) systems, radar platforms, UAVs, THAAD, and other mission- and safety-critical defense systems. This role focuses on ensuring software safety, integrity, and compliance throughout the system lifecycle, including requirements development, design, implementation, integration, and sustainment. Positions are available across multiple levels, with scope, technical depth, and leadership responsibilities aligned to experience and grade.

As a Junior Software Safety Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate safety-critical software functions, failure modes, and errant missile risk.
  • Support Safety Review Boards, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and executive-level briefings.

  • Collaborate with systems, software, test, and reliability engineering teams to mitigate safety risks.

  • Support verification, validation, and compliance audits (DCMA, Government safety.

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical field. Relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 2+ years of experience in system safety and/or software safety engineering.

  • Experience producing and briefing safety documentation to Government stakeholders.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

  • Experience leading safety efforts across multiple IPTs.

  • Strong analytical and risk-based thinking.
  • Attention to detail in safety-critical environments.
  • Clear technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Sound judgment and commitment to mission and personnel safety.

Work Environment:

  • Customer site.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional engineering and program teams.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support program needs.
