Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a mid-level Systems Administrator to support and operate a complex on-prem and hybrid infrastructure environment. This role is part of a shared administration team but serves as a primary owner for several core enterprise platforms. The focus is on day-to-day operations, reliability, security, and lifecycle maintenance. This position will play a key role in sustaining current systems and supporting a migration to a Microsoft GCC High Azure environment.

This position is onsite, non-remote in our North Logan, UT location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the primary operational administrator for assigned systems and platforms, ensuring availability, performance, and security
  • Administers and supports VMware virtual infrastructure (~800 VMs), including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and capacity management
  • Manages enterprise storage and file services, including:
    • Pure FlashBlade
    • Nimble Storage
    • NetApp
    • File servers, shares, permissions, quotas, and archival solutions
  • Administers Azure tenants, including Entra ID (Azure AD), SSO, identity integration, and core Azure services
  • Supports and contributes to a migration to Microsoft GCC High
  • Performs user, group, and permission management across on-prem and cloud environments
  • Provides technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring
  • Executes routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle tasks with minimal service disruption
  • Participates in incident response, root cause analysis, and service restoration
  • Follows established change management processes and creates and executes approved changes
  • Ensures assigned systems meet appropriate security and compliance requirements
  • Produces and maintains clear documentation for assigned systems and solutions
  • Collaborates closely with network, security, engineering, and customer stakeholders
  • Provides after-hours and on-call support as required for outages or maintenance events

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
  • 8+ years of experience in an IT or systems administrator role including 3+ years of experience with VMware vSphere administration
  • Experience administering enterprise storage and file services (NAS, quotas, permissions, archival systems)
  • Experience with Azure administration, including Entra ID and identity services
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server administration and enterprise operations
  • Familiarity with operating in regulated environments
  • Experience following structured change management and incident response processes
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple teams
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Must be willing to travel if required, though not a normal expectation
  • Valid CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent) is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in an IT or systems administrator role
  • 5+ years of experience with VMware vSphere administration
  • Experience supporting or migrating to Microsoft GCC High environments
  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell preferred)
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools
  • Experience with enterprise storage platforms
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud environments
  • Microsoft or virtualization-related certifications

*Salary Range
  • $94,000 - $125,000
    • Salary commensurate based on education and relevant experience
