To coordinate the day to day workflow of the department to meet patient care needs. This role is to focus on nursing process, physician communication, patient flow, team member competence, resource utilization and patient, family, physician and team member satisfaction. The Assistant Manager will function as a member of the assigned department leadership team.


Qualifications

Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care Focus: The Assistant Nurse Manager plays a pivotal role in interdisciplinary oversight of quality patient care on unit. Reports all issues or concerns to the Nurse Manager.
Ensures that patient care outcomes are clearly communicated to unit team members.
Serves as resource to others in using patient outcomes and/or core measure indicators to organize their plan of care and care delivery methods.
Assists team members to incorporate research and best practices in patient care into their individual practice.
Recognizes trends in the delivery of patient care on the unit and discusses with Nurse Manager
Monitors current patient care practices and is alert to areas of improvement. Utilizes best practices/research in areas of opportunity.
Successfully manages clinical crisis situations.
Assists Nurse Manager in meeting employee experience goals.
Assists Nurse Manager in service recovery activities.
Participates in gathering data on PI initiatives, including chart review. Assists in unit specific PI process to achieve best practices.
Participates and investigates to determine root causes.
Participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating action plans.
Develops a schedule that meets staffing needs.Utilization of Resources and Effective Communication. The Assistant Nurse Manager is knowledgeable of resources and utilizes effective communication skills in interactions with team members, patients, visitors and physicians.
Continues professional development and involvement in professional activities that enhance nursing practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research.
Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education.
Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
Serves as a key resource in identifying staffing changes such as unit activity, patient acuity, and other key staffing changes (orientation/training) and redistributes in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and/or Nursing Supervisor to meet unit and organizational needs.
Ensures that patient care activities are delegated in an efficient manner
Acts as clinical liaison between nursing, healthcare providers, and physicians to communicate interdisciplinary approach to patient care needs and promotes teamwork.
Assists with communicating unit information and clarifies issues as needed.
Communicates any problems to the Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor that need further attention timely.
Makes patient rounds.
Demonstrates good listening skills with staff members and physicians

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $44.95per hour - $77.31per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
