Position Title: Set Up Technician
Wage: $21-$33/hour Shift: 3rd Hours: 11:30pm-7:30am QPS Employment Group is hiring a Set Up Technician for a company in Sussex, WI. This is an associate to hire opportunity. Set Up Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Set up molds; install knockout pins in the mold; mount, align, and connect plastic molding dies on press platens; ensure that the machine's safety features (e.g., drop bar, safety gates) are properly set; all Safety guards must be in place; connect water and air lines to mold where necessary and adjust controls to regulate the mold temperature - Set machine controls to regulate clamping pressure and speeds; set control for injection speeds and pressures; set all machines' timers to obtain the proper cycles; change machine screw when necessary to obtain proper color; record all troubleshooting adjustments on the Supervisors Checklist - Clean the entire machine and wash the floor around the machine; all work areas must be kept clean and safe; examine the sample parts for defects, such as flash, sinks, shorts, splay, cracks and closed holes, proper inserts, and codes, and adjust machine set up to eliminate defects; take first good shots to Cell Lead for approval - Arrange work area and assist in the set-up of auxiliary equipment as required; instruct operators on operating procedures and safety hazards as they pertain to each job after it is set up - Troubleshoot operating difficulties by referring to the company troubleshooting guidelines; adjust equipment and machine cycles as necessary to correct molding problems such as shorts, flash, etc. - Twice during the shift, verify equipment is free of nozzle leaks, process windows are completed, and parameters are within the stated parameters and cycle time is matched to the BOM - At completion of run, remove mold from press; spray mold with rust preventative, disconnect water lines and blow water out of mold; no mold can be stored with water in water lines - Store mold in designated storage space; tag mold with any needed mold repair; document # 35676, Set Up Technician.doc [ Rev: 0.9 ] Eff. Date 01/30/2024 FM-6.2-004 Rev. 1.0 CN 23-008 Page 2 of 2 - Follow company's environmental policies to protect and minimize the impact on the environment - Maintain a safe 5S working environment to minimize the possibility of an injury; act in a safe manner always and ensure that those around them do not put themselves or others at risk; report any unsafe conditions to a manager - Perform other related duties and assignments as assigned or required Set Up Technician Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent preferred - Minimum 3 years of set-up experience in plastic injection molding - Basic computer skills including IQMS systems - Good interpersonal communication techniques to work with subordinates and/or coworkers; courteous and helpful when interacting with fellow employees; helps to create a positive work environment - Must have good documentation skills - Strong material knowledge - Demonstrated machine knowledge - Strong processing knowledge - Advanced set-up knowledge - Critical thinking skills - Ability to gather data and think creatively - Good attendance - Ability to lift 50 pounds up to shoulder height QPS Employment Group is a full-service staffing firm comprised of dedicated and passionate people with over 50 offices throughout the United States.
