We are seeking an innovative and strategic Director, Data Analytics & AI to lead four core teams within the Data & Generative AI department: Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Science and Data Governance driving enterprise-wide product-related data, analytics, and AI strategy, governance, and execution. This leader will architect and execute the vision for Relias's enterprise product data ecosystem, with focus on customer-facing reporting through PowerBI Embedded, and AI products leveraging large language models and other machine learning techniques. The Director, Data Analytics & AI will collaborate closely across engineering, product, information security, and other various business functions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams, delivering scalable systems, driving measurable business outcomes, and delivering AI-powered products or features in production settings

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

* Organizational Leadership and People Development: Lead, mentor, and develop managers and team members across Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Governance, and Data Science. Foster a culture of excellence, ownership, and collaboration. Provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management that enable teams to achieve ambitious goals.
* Data & AI Strategy and Portfolio Management: Define and execute the cross-functional strategy for analytics and AI initiatives for Relias products, support internal AI automation, and customer-facing AI features. Prioritize, scope, and oversee a portfolio of projects that support customer-facing insights, and AI-driven experiences. Partner with product and engineering leaders to align capabilities and roadmaps with business priorities.
* Technical Governance of Data, Analytics, and AI Platforms: Own architectural standards and oversee the design and delivery of scalable data pipelines, semantic models, reporting assets, and AI/ML systems. Ensure high-quality development practices for PowerBI Embedded reporting, internal PowerBI dashboards, LLM-based applications, recommendation systems, and productivity-oriented AI solutions including data quality frameworks, metadata management, access governance, and model governance
* Execution Excellence in Data Engineering, BI, and Data Science: Drive consistently high execution quality across teams, ensuring timely and reliable delivery of data models, reports, ML models, and AI products. Promote best practices in coding, documentation, observability, and model lifecycle management. Maintain alignment with security, compliance, and governance requirements.
* Cross-Functional Communication and Knowledge Sharing: Build strong partnerships across the organization. Translate technical topics into clear narratives for executives and business stakeholders. Ensure documentation, communication frameworks, and governance processes promote clarity, transparency, and reproducibility across Engineering AI initiatives and customer facing products.

YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE:

* Enterprise Leadership & People Development: Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, set strategic direction, and elevate technical and managerial capabilities. Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional change initiatives, foster broad adoption of data and AI-driven practices across the enterprise.
* Enterprise Data Architecture and Analytics Delivery: Strong command of data modeling, ETL/ELT design, semantic layer development, and operationalization of analytics with PowerBI and PowerBI Embedded.
* AI and Machine Learning Expertise: Understanding of LLM-based product development, recommendation systems, and AI automation solutions, including leading full model lifecyle from experimentation to production. Working knowledge of MLOps practices and scalable model deployment.
* Technical Proficiency and Tools: Proficiency with modern data engineering technologies, MLOps, cloud-native development practices, and PowerBI. Familiarity with Databricks, Azure Synapse, MLFlow, and PowerBI preferred.
* Strategic Communication and Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to influence senior leadership, translate business needs into data and AI solutions, and communicate complex technical issues in an accessible way.
* Governance, Documentation, and Standards:. Strong commitment to establishing and maintaining enterprise-wide data and AI governance standards, including data privacy, access control, model documentation, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
* 10 years of experience across data engineering, analytics, and AI disciplines, with at least 4 years of experience leading multi-team or multi-domain data organizations. Demonstrated success delivering enterprise analytics and AI solutions in production environments.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

IT WOULD BE IDEAL IF YOU HAVE:

* Master's degree or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field. Experience developing customer-facing reporting products and AI-driven features within a SaaS or technology-driven company strongly preferred.

IN OFFICE REQUIREMENT:

Relias values collaboration and wants to ensure that our team members have opportunities to work with their teams regularly for professional development opportunities. Our flexible hybrid work environment requires that you live in the state of North Carolina, within a commutable distance to our office (~1-hour commute). You would be expected to work in our Morrisville, NC Headquarters approximately 40 days/quarter.
