Salary Range: $22.00 - $25.00/hour

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position: Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm; non-exempt position. This position is not eligible for benefits. This is a temporary appointment expiring on or before September 30, 2026, with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon availability of funds.

Essential Functions: Under the leadership of the Executive Director of Pathway Programs at Cal State LA, the Program Coordinator will assist in creating lessons, lead monthly workshops, support monthly check-ins with students under the Assistant Director's and Program Coordinator's direct supervision, oversee tracking of services and ensure notes are updated, support faculty coordinators with all GEAR UP related activities (reserving space on campus for GEAR UP events, hospitality, campus tours, supervise marketing workshops and events to target GEAR UP specific students and parents, and assist with mid-semester grade checks). All activities work to benefit the first-year experience of the GEAR UP 4 LA student class of 2024. The program coordinator will support the overall functions of the office as a whole including collaborating with faculty, staff, and students in a team-centered environment to complete program initiatives. Applicants who possess the knowledge, skills, and life experiences to address the cultural and educational needs of a culturally diverse student population are encouraged to apply.

* Open office and prepare space for staff, students, and faculty. Assist in advising students, maintaining contact, and promoting activities via emails, phone calls, in person mentoring/academic success sessions, workshops, special events and or projects. Keep record of daily student contact or interactions. Present weekly updates on assigned tasks. Help supervise work study assistants, work schedules, and projects assigned to the students as necessary.

* Lead conversations with campus partners and GEAR UP 4 LA partners about student success, updates, and outcomes.

* Support the completion of paperwork essential to the daily operations of the program (i.e., ordering supplies, maintaining supplies, submitting parking requests, initiating, and tracking student worker hiring process, reserving space for events.)

* Assist the Program Coordinator with trainings and student life activities.

* Assist with the planning of workshops, classroom presentations, and special events as directed.

* Deliver oral presentations for students, faculty, staff, and community groups on and off campus.

* Prepare and maintain reports, case notes, services, databases, and files logs and lists using computer software programs.

Requirements: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four - year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, higher education, or a job-related field. Equivalent to two years professional program management/coordination of educational/academic programs; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A bachelor's degree in a job-related field may substitute for one year of the professional experience.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge: Master's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, higher education, or a job-related field. Previous experience conducting pathway/pipeline initiatives in a higher education setting; bilingual Spanish fluency a plus; and demonstrated positive disposition, professionalism, student centered philosophy, and teamwork.

The incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the UAS. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or the continued employment of current UAS employees who apply for the position.
