California State University, Los Angeles Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math/Science Programs Program Coordinator Salary: $72,000 annual Work Schedule: Full-time Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Must be available to work on select week-ends and evenings. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Under the supervision of the Upward Bound Program Director, the Program Coordinator will coordinate academic support services at target area high schools in the Los Angeles and Pasadena Unified School Districts. assist the Director in the development, coordination and evaluation of the programs' objectives and activities; coordinate and maintain the academic tutorial component (study hall); Coordination of residential program, cultural event field trips, college visits, and other program events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 25% Coordinate 2-week residential program; college visits; cultural event fieldtrips; and spring retreat (overnight fieldtrip). 20% Assist with the planning and supervision of enrichment activities. Attend program's special events such as Senior Banquet, Summer Closing Ceremony, Academic Year and Summer Program Orientations. 15% Assist with the coordination of the 6-week summer program curriculum. 5% Will collaborate with on and off campus academic programs to develop, coordinate, and implement curriculum for the Upward Bound Program. 5% Utilizes the Upward Bound database system to generate reports as needed. 5% Coordinate recruitment with school administrators, distribute applications, monitor applications received and interview/select prospective applicants. 5% Assist with the recruitment and selection process of project participants. 5% Perform academic advisement as needed with career, and personal advising to high school participants, Updating student records such as transcripts, progress reports, final semester grades, and college applications, and reports. 5% Monitor and follow-up with participants' study hall, Saturday Academy, Summer Program and enrichment activities attendance. 5% Assist with the completion of the annual performance report 5% Oversee the Upward Bound office in the absence of the office manager and program director. Perform other duties as needed. REQUIREMENTS Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university; Bachelor's degree required. Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and characteristics of low-income, potentially first generation participants. Must possess knowledge of financial aid, college admissions requirements, career guidance, and high school graduation requirements. Familiarity with the Pasadena/Los Angeles Unified School District. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree preferred, with a preferred minimum of two years of full-time experience working in a high school. Experience in working with TRIO programs Bilingual in Spanish English highly desirable. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Candidate must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate strong public relations skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, leadership ability and a teamwork mentality. The incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the UAS.
