Westfield Country Club is excited to announce the seasonal job opportunity of dining room host and food runner/busser. This position is a dual role at the club, offering experience at two highly interactive, guest-facing positions at the club. Organizational skills are developed and tested in the role of host, where reservation details are very important, and lines of walk-in customers must be greeted promptly and delegated to server sections properly to ensure proper flow in the dining room. Meanwhile, the host needs to answer incoming phone calls and handle to go orders with effortless grace. Your role is incredibly important to avoid over seating, chaos, and customer dissatisfaction at the club. Are you up to the challenge?

As a food runner/busser, menu knowledge and service timing are learned quickly as you act as the liaison between the fast pace of the kitchen and the calm of the dining room without letting the guests see you sweat. Easy, right? Pay starts at $11 per hour plus tips.

Job Summary

The Host is responsible for performing various food service operations tasks such as taking reservations, seating guests, setting tables, bussing and cleaning tables, answering phones, taking and processing to go orders, running food, and ensuring assigned workstations are properly setup and stocked for assigned shifts. The role ensures sanitization in compliance with proper food safety and organization standards and performs side work tasks related to the operation of the dining room. This role works as part of a team in the club food and beverage department and will need to work and communicate well with support staff, including servers, managers, cooks, dishwashers, and bartenders. Hosts will be assigned to events from time to time if business needs dictate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares work area for daily operations by making sure the designated workstations are properly stocked and sanitized.
  • Learns and operates the software to process and organize reservations and other dining room management applications.
  • Courteously answers phones according to company standards and provides assistance to callers.
  • Achieves the high standards of quality, production, cooperation, and service set by the company for our employees, guests and customers.
  • Operates and cleans beverage dispensers, coffee brewers, and other foodservice and beverage equipment.
  • Works cooperatively and effectively with peers and leadership to complete team tasks, serve as back-up for other team members as assigned and minimize customer service issues.
  • Learns the menu items, garnishes, appropriate sauces, sides, and utensils to accompany specific items. Can expedite items from the kitchen pickup window, identifying menu items by sight and delivering them to the proper customer at the proper table according to printed tickets.
  • Cleans food preparation areas, work surfaces, and dining areas.
  • Monitors supply inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of the dining room and server areas in compliance with all food safety and Hospitality standards of quality.
  • Greets customers courteously, answers questions professionally and accurately and escalates issues to leadership as necessary.
  • Operates cash registers or point of sale systems to process customer payments accurately for to go orders. Counts and reconciles cash transactions at the end of shifts and ensures proper documentation.
  • Works collaboratively with other food service staff, such as cooks, bartenders, and supervisors, to ensure smooth operations and efficient customer service. Communicates effectively and assists team members as needed.
