Job Description:

The key leadership role is responsible for the oversight of the nursing float pool, house management team, bed flow, and patient transportation departments, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient clinical services. This role provides strategic leadership to support appropriate staffing coverage based on census, acuity, and skill mix across multiple units. The Director ensures staff competency through effective orientation, cross-training, certification oversight, and ongoing competency validation. Responsibilities include monitoring quality and patient safety outcomes, addressing safety events, and leading performance improvement initiatives. The Nurse Director leads the development and implementation of evidence-based nursing standards of practice, patient care policies, and procedures aligned with nationally recognized professional standards. The director facilitates departmental operations through effective fiscal oversight, resource allocation, and human resource management, while establishing and monitoring performance metrics to improve patient outcomes.

Requirements:

Must be a Registered Nurse licensed and eligible to practice in Kentucky

Master's degree in nursing or related field required.

A minimum of seven years progressive nurse leadership experience required.

Certification in Nursing Leadership required or must obtain within five years.

Experience with float pool or clinical agency staffing is a plus.
