Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Athletic Department Assistant position. The Athletic Department Assistant is a part-time, casual position with no benefits. The expected salary range for this job opportunity is: $20 - $22 per hour.

The salary offered will vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, and experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations.

The Athletic Department Assistant provides part-time administrative support for the financial and business operation of the athletic department. This position will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks including coordinating travel for athletic teams, processing invoices and expenses, and other general clerical tasks in support of the department. In addition, this position provides administrative and event support for postseason NESCAC and NCAA events. This position works in collaboration with the Associate Director of Athletics and other administrators to ensure smooth operation of the athletic department.

The Athletic Department Assistant position calls for an enthusiastic, flexible individual who can assist the department with administrative tasks and work collaboratively with a diverse group of colleagues. The Athletic Department Assistant takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Summary of Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Coordinating travel for athletic teams
  • Processing invoices and expenses, and other general clerical tasks in support of the department
  • Provides administrative and event support for postseason NESCAC and NCAA events
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Athletics and other administrators, to ensure smooth operation of the athletic department


Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years Related Experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, time-management, organizational, and customer-service skills
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and work collaboratively
  • Knowledge of sporting activities and business acumen
  • Demonstrated high level of attention to detail
  • Sensitivity to issues of confidentiality
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office (or similar platforms)
  • Experience working in a welcoming and inclusive community
  • Flexible schedule in order to support department events and activities
  • Successful completion of required reference and background checks
  • An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check


Preferred

  • Knowledge of Workday software
