The Federal Account Director (FAD) is responsible for national leadership of Incyte's Oncology and Dermatology portfolios within the Federal Channel. Key customers include VA VISN Formulary Executives, Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs), Veterans Pharmacy Executives (VPEs), targeted Department of Defense (DoD) accounts, and federally focused associations and coverage decision-makers.
The FAD works closely with the Senior Director of Government Accounts and the existing Federal Account Director to maintain and enhance product access aligned with Incyte's commercial objectives. This role develops and executes regional strategies, account plans, and tactical initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams while meeting or exceeding defined performance metrics.
Essential Functions
- Develop and execute national and regional strategies targeting VA VISN Formulary Executives and prioritized DoD customers.
- Manage relationships with VPEs and key decision-makers within VA Medical Centers (VAMCs).
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Government Accounts to develop strategic business plans that enhance access.
- Lead Federal Market Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement at local and regional levels.
- Support program development with federal customers and associations (e.g., AMD, APHA, JFPS).
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities within the VA and DoD systems.
- Leverage strong knowledge of federal channel data sources and large datasets to inform strategy.
- Build and strengthen relationships with leadership and members of the Association of Military Dermatologists.
- Provide oversight and leadership for the FAM Team (Field Access Manager) - Dermatology.
- Educate internal stakeholders on federal market dynamics and initiatives through the Federal Healthcare Committee - Oncology.
- Monitor competitive activity within the federal channel and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Serve as a resource to Regional Account Directors (RADs) and field-based teams regarding federal channel inquiries.
- Contribute to non-personal promotional strategies within the federal channel.
- Maintain a strong understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements relevant to federal accounts.
- Ensure compliance with all Incyte promotional, administrative, and legal policies.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Senior Director of Government Accounts.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical or healthcare experience; prior oncology, dermatology, or biologics experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of account management experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with regional and national payers.
- Experience working with the VA National Oncology Program and AVAHO preferred.
- Knowledge of government contracting mechanisms (TPR, ADP, BPA) preferred.
- Proven ability to lead without authority across complex, cross-functional teams.
- Strong strategic thinking with demonstrated success translating strategy into actionable plans.
- Experience engaging Key Opinion Leaders or high-influence customers within hospitals, large practices, or managed care organizations.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and decision-making skills.
- Strong business analytics skills with the ability to assess metrics and performance against objectives.
- Resilient, adaptable, and able to learn from setbacks.
- Ability to motivate and influence federal customers through clear articulation of strategy and value.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 50% as required.
