We are seeking a dedicated Tax Relief Case Worker to guide clients through the tax resolution process and advocate on their behalf. Position Overview The Tax Relief Case Worker plays a crucial role in managing client cases from start to finish. This position involves gathering financial information, assessing program eligibility, preparing compliance documents, and maintaining consistent communication with clients throughout their resolution journey. Key Responsibilities Client Intake & Case Analysis * Conduct client consultations to understand tax issues and financial circumstances. * Gather and review financial documents (income, expenses, assets, tax transcripts, etc.). * Assess eligibility for tax relief programs such as installment agreements, Offers in Compromise, penalty abatement, and hardship status. Case Management & Communication * Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring clear and timely updates. * Provide education and guidance on tax processes, compliance requirements, and case expectations. * Maintain a professional and supportive relationship with clients throughout the resolution process. Collaboration & Documentation * Work closely with enrolled agents, attorneys, and tax preparers to develop appropriate resolution strategies. * Prepare and submit required IRS/state documentation accurately and on time. * Track case progress, follow up with agencies, and document all case activity in the case management system. Compliance & FollowUp * Ensure clients meet all compliance requirements, including filing missing tax returns and responding to IRS notices. * Keep meticulous records and maintain organization across multiple active cases. * Monitor deadlines to keep cases moving forward efficiently. Qualifications Preferred Experience * 1-3 years of experience in tax resolution, case management, financial services, or a related field. * Experience working with IRS processes or tax relief programs is highly preferred. Skills & Competencies * Strong customer service skills and the ability to build trust with clients under stress. * Excellent communication (written and verbal) and active listening skills. * High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with case management software (training provided). * Ability to read and understand financial documents and tax transcripts (or willingness to learn). Education * Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred - not required with relevant experience.
