Torch Technologies is seeking multiple Quality Engineers (SQE) to support quality assurance, verification, and validation of software and firmware for DoD missile systems, C2BMC, radar systems, UAVs, THAAD, and other mission-critical platforms. This role focuses on ensuring software integrity, reliability, compliance with program requirements, and adherence to DoD and industry standards throughout the software lifecycle.

Positions are available across Levels I-V, with responsibilities and leadership expectations aligned to experience and grade.

Key Responsibilities (All Levels):

  • Support software quality assurance and testing activities across development, integration, and deployment phases.
  • Develop, review, and execute test plans, procedures, and scripts for software and firmware systems.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects, anomalies, and nonconformances.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and program-specific quality, safety, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Support software verification, validation, and IV&V activities.
  • Collaborate with software, firmware, systems, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps teams.
  • Support audits, reviews, and program milestone activities.
  • Maintain quality documentation, including test results, metrics, and reports.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement and best practice initiatives.

Level-Specific Expectations:

Software Quality Engineer I

  • Entry-level or early-career position.
  • Assists with test execution, documentation, and defect tracking under supervision.
  • Learns DoD quality processes, embedded software environments, and program standards.

Software Quality Engineer II

  • Performs quality assurance and testing tasks with limited supervision.
  • Independently executes test cases, analyzes results, and documents findings.
  • Supports process improvements and software compliance activities.

Software Quality Engineer III

  • Leads quality assurance and testing for subsystems or software modules.
  • Interfaces with program stakeholders on quality findings and risk assessments.
  • Mentors junior engineers and supports technical discussions.

Software Quality Engineer IV

  • Senior-level technical contributor.
  • Leads quality planning, verification, and IV&V efforts across multiple subsystems or programs.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on embedded software quality, firmware testing, and DoD compliance standards.
  • Supports program reviews, audits, and customer engagements.

Software Quality Engineer V

  • Principal or expert-level role.
  • Defines software quality strategy, standards, and best practices across programs.
  • Advises program leadership on quality risks, process improvements, and lifecycle compliance.
  • Leads enterprise-level quality initiatives and continuous improvement programs.

Required Qualifications (All Levels):

  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • Experience or academic background in software quality assurance, software testing, IV&V, or software engineering.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and quality methodologies.
  • Ability to document, analyze, and communicate technical issues clearly.
  • Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting DoD missile systems, C2BMC, radars, UAVs, THAAD, or similar defense platforms.
  • Experience with embedded systems, firmware, and real-time software testing.
  • Familiarity with DoD and industry standards (MIL-STD-498, DO-178, MIL-STD-882, ISO, IEEE).
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
  • Experience supporting audits, program reviews, or IV&V activities.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Adaptability to multiple programs, environments, and technical domains.

Work Environment:

  • Customer Site.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional engineering, cybersecurity, and program teams.
  • Occasional travel or off-hours support may be required based on program needs.
