GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Steel Shop Supervisor schedules work throughout the steel shops while keeping the current schedule that is set.

Salary range $95-105k/year. Based on experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Oversees activity in the Steel Shops.
  • Manages the day-to-day production according to Production schedules.
  • Determines start times and work schedule based on workload.
  • Determines what needs to be produced and what pieces to work on in the steel shop.
  • Ensures product quality is acceptable.
  • Works with each department to know what needs to be done and how.
  • Oversees monthly inventories.
  • Provides purchase requisitions for raw material to procurement.
  • Works with engineering and drafting to overcome obstacles.
  • Coordinates with procurement, drafting and foreman/leadmen to ensure all job-related materials are produced intime to meet the production schedule.
  • Coordinates training of new employees.
  • Enforces policies and procedures by coaching or giving corrective action when needed.
  • Works to meet policies and regulations that are needed.
  • Views, tracks and adjusts manpower to maintain budgets.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains Lean Management practices.
  • Ensures all employees work safely.
  • Maintains all employee certifications as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED



  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • 2+ years of supervisor experience
  • Welding experience (6G Certified, preferred)
  • Steam industrial piping experience (Preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read blueprints or engineering drawings
  • Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
  • Must have interpersonal communication skills to interact with employees
  • Ability to supervise, and facilitate others safely
  • Ability to train and coach other employees if necessary
  • General math skills
  • Ability to work with others to get the project completed
  • Must be able to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to control budgets/inventory
  • Ability to organize schedules, people, and equipment for maximum production
  • Understand the production process as a whole to be able to coordinate schedules
  • Must be motivated and self-driven to complete a task


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, occasionally.
  • Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl and use hands/forearms repetitively and frequently.
  • Ability to move around for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages and man lifts at various heights frequently.

  • Moderate to high exposure to production environment
  • Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions
  • Ability to work outside year-round
