Internship - Software Bench Top Engineer (Summer 2026)

Introduction

The Bench Top Engineer Intern will be supporting and executing to the Bench Top Task Force (BTTF) Road Map and Software Test Plans, and analyze, write, and execute 'Complex' Manual and Automated Test 'Setup' Procedures, Maintain Test Automation Python Scripts, Maintain test results documentation, assist/support Debugging and Modification of Software, create and executes Software Commissioning on Test Benches, create, release, and maintains BT schematics, component layouts, bills of Material (BOM), analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality, recommend corrective action when needed, Debug/Troubleshoot issues, and consults with Development Engineers to resolve problems.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. * 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Your Assignment

  • Evaluate new HW Functionalities
  • Debug/Troubleshoot Network Communication Issues
  • Create 'Test Strategies' to ensure appropriate Test Coverage
  • Ability to Publish and Implement 'Test Plans' for Software Module and System Level Test
  • Ability to Execute 'Test Cases' and maintain 'Test Results'
  • Assists in generation of 'Quality Assurance Metrics'; BT, Rack, SCS Availability/Reliability
  • Analyze 'Test Results' and provide 'Progress Reports' to engineers and management
  • Work closely with developers to isolate and understand problems and issues
  • Collect data on 'Problems/Issues' and return findings to the SDev/SInt teams for implementation of root cause solutions
  • Follows BTTF Development Process
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Your Profile

  • Minimum of at least 2 years completed in pursuit of BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related Engineering or Science fields.
  • Experience
  • Previous experience in Building/Debugging SW Test Equipment is a plus
  • Works and interacts well with others.
  • Able to learn and apply new information or skills.
  • Able to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
  • Able to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads.
  • Result driven-demonstrate ownership and accountability.
  • Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $18.00 - $57.00. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
