The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Software Test Engineer to provide support for our government customer in Orlando, Florida.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, coordinate, develop, and execute software tests to identify software problems and their causes.
  • Test software products to prepare for government acceptance.
  • Document software and application defects using a bug tracking system and report defects to software or web developers. Write test reports and review test articles & deliverables.
  • Create and maintain databases of known defects.
  • Participate in working group meetings and integrated product team (IPT) meetings to provide status on test activities, coordinate test participation and schedules across teams, discuss and resolve test-related issues.
  • Develop engineering Specifications and other documents required by NAWCTSD Orlando's policies and procedures on Technical Procurement Package Preparation and Processing.
  • Clarify software design ambiguities, highlighting areas of software design deficiency, and provide support in resolving conflicts in the proposed engineering technical approach.
  • Document the configuration, design, and performance characteristics of the proposed training system software.
  • Review contractor's data deliverable (CDRL items) and internal software life cycle work products (e.g. System Engineering Plan, Software Development Plan, System and Software Requirements Specs, System and Software Design Descriptions, Software Test Plans/Procedures, and other Technical Reports).
  • Become familiar with the training system contractor's software life-cycle activities and work products, in order to effectively monitor and assess the software development effort. Assist in resolving related programmatic issues.
  • Participate in appropriate IPT meetings, working groups, design/progress reviews, audits (e.g. Post Award Conferences, Requirements Review, Design Reviews, and Test Readiness Review).
  • Monitor and evaluate software metrics data for trends, deviations, and compliance.
  • Monitor the software preliminary and detailed design process and related work products generated during the training system life cycle.
  • Monitor the software code and unit test process and work products generated during the training system life cycle. Review the training system contractor's proposed test criteria and subsequently perform examinations and audit test results.
  • Monitor the hardware and software integration process and work products generated during the training system life cycle.
  • Monitor and participate in the Software Physical Configuration Audit.
  • Monitor and participate in the training system acceptance testing process. Perform and document software cold starts and other software related system testing.
  • Monitor the software configuration management and quality assurance processes applied and work products generated during training system life cycle.
  • Identify problems being encountered in hardware and software development and provide recommendations for resolving these problems.
  • Analyze potential software requirements for modifications on training systems in the operational phase of the training system life cycle. This analysis shall involve extensive research and coordination, including direct contact with fleet activities, government laboratories, and device/system users.
  • Support for Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) for technical determination of system performance and operational suitability for fleet implementation.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on the T&E project, schedule, and technical performance. Report T&E program metrics and management issues to the Program Office.
  • Provide test support for the Lead Test Engineer for systems testing in support of Program Office IPTs. Form and lead teams for technical determination of system performance and operational suitability for fleet implementation.
  • Support Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) for technical determination of system performance and operational suitability for fleet implementation.
  • Identify and support the appropriate types and depth of testing required for the planning phase of comprehensive weapon systems projects. Include cost estimates, scheduling, test plans, and reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

B.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, visual engineering, aeronautical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechanical engineering.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Approximately three (3) or more years of experience with hardware and software design and integration.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active Secret clearance is required.
