Overview

We are looking for a Business Planner to join the Monetization and Business Planning (M+BP) team which is responsible for monetization strategy, pricing, and packaging constructs for products representing over $100 billion of annual revenue. In this role you will drive monetization innovation for our Teams Phone portfolio, which is Microsoft's cloud calling solution within Teams and has scaled into a multi offer communications portfolio.

Teams Phone represents a material revenue driver within the Teams ecosystem, and the next phase will focus on increasing attach and using AI to improve call quality, manageability, and customer and admin experiences. This is a visible, cross functional role that combines strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and executive level communication to support growth, simplicity, and scalability of Teams Phone and the overall Modern Work business. In this role you will partner with product, sales, marketing, and finance leaders to shape portfolio direction, guide investment decisions, and ensure business outcomes are clearly understood and delivered.

Responsibilities

As a Business Planner, you will deliver impact by:

  • Collaborate with product engineering and product marketing on product vision, offer strategy and packaging constructs.
  • Partnering across to turn new IP and product roadmaps into revenue, growth, and profitability for Microsoft.
  • Creating and owning business model frameworks that align with customer value.
  • Optimizing customer experience through new commerce innovation.
  • Creating incentive structures for our ecosystem to deliver value for end-customers.
  • Developing offer strategies to accelerate cross-cloud adoption and new user growth.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to land monetization strategy, pricing decisions, and packaging constructs for your product areas.
  • Partner with finance to determine the revenue and customer lifetime value impact of business model decisions.
  • Conduct market research to understand total addressable market, competitive dynamics, optimal customer segmentation, and customer willingness to pay.
  • Engage with our Operations & Business Insights team to optimize pricing and launch products across hundreds of regions worldwide.
  • Partner with the New Commerce and Commercial Strategy team to develop and land new business models with commerce engineering and sales organizations.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • 3+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
    • OR 3+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Effective communicator who can adapt style and message across various stakeholders and levels, including marketing and engineering executives, customers, and partners.
  • Strategic framing skills to create alignment between engineering, product marketing, and business owners.
  • Efficient problem-solver who can see the big picture and leverage analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to make data-driven decisions.
  • Consistently deliver results and demonstrate good judgment, personal accountability, and high integrity.
  • Able to work independently and effectively as part of a broad team, and drive successful outcomes with virtual teams.


Business Planning IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.
