Teams is strategic for the company and brings many exciting opportunities to improve the user experience anddrive efficiency. This requires partnering with other data scientists within and outside Teams, business analysis, PMs, Applied Science, Engineers, and User Research. This role requires technical depth and experience leveraging statistics, data analysis, and visualization to drive business insights that lead to action and deliver business outcomes.

As a Data Scientist you will own and execute endtoend data analysis for Teams Commercial scenarios, translating product questions into clearly defined metrics, insights, and recommendations that inform product and engineering decisions. You will build and strengthenfoundation in product analytics, experimentation, and storytelling while partnering closely with DS and PM leaders to grow scope, influence, and technical depth.

Responsibilities

Work with other teams across Microsoft to develop key metrics to achieve business outcomes.
Work cross functionally to translate business problems into ones that can be solved and informed by data.
Communicate vision and strategy, enabling global teams tooperateindependently to deliver success
Demonstrate curiosity and apply analytical skills to dive deep into data to find key insights thatimpactthe business.
Develop models of usage, user interaction and businesspatterns to make recommendations and influence the product roadmap.
Serve as a contributor and advocate for AB testing. Design, execute and analyze experiments to evaluate product change attribution.
Utilize tools like SQL, R, Pythonto execute analyses.
Develop and manage relationships with product and business leaders across the organization to understand objectives and identify opportunities.
Collaborate closely with other Microsoft Data Science and Data Engineering teams to deliver data-informed solutions to address the business'spriority needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
3+ years leveragingexperience and understanding the need to deliver measurable business impact by working with stakeholders to turn business problems into data analysis questions and unearthing actionable insights from data.
Experience as a data scientist for an online service, app, or Web site with millions of users. Experience working on an online collaboration, video conference, or messaging product is a plus.
Havea track recordof innovative thinking and problem-solving skills using Big Data.
Have the ability todeliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete data.
3+ yearsleveragingthe practical uses of statistics (i.e.experimentation, statistical modeling).
Professional experience with large-scale computing systems like Hadoop, MapReduce, and/or similar systems.
3+ years of professional experience in SQL, R, Python, or related tools for large-scale analysis.
Ability to clearly explain ideas and communicate complex analysis & insights to a non-technical audience.
Experience working as part of geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teams.

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
