Sr. Virtual Aviation Engineer

Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position:



  • The Sr. Virtual Aviation Engineer provides engineering, integration, and technical support for virtual aviation training systems and environments, ensuring aviation simulations and virtual training capabilities are realistic, reliable, interoperable, and effective. The individual supports the design, integration, testing, sustainment, and continuous improvement of virtual aviation training systems, including simulators, synthetic environments, and networked training solutions.
  • Responsibilities include supporting engineering analysis and integration of virtual aviation Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS); assisting with development and review of technical requirements, system architectures, and interface specifications; and supporting test planning, execution, and validation of virtual aviation systems. The Virtual Aviation Engineer supports interoperability between simulators, networks, data services, and live/constructive training components to enable integrated training environments.
  • Additional duties include supporting installation, configuration, and sustainment of virtual aviation systems; participating in system demonstrations, evaluations, and training events; supporting Government Acceptance Testing (GAT) and on-site testing; collecting and analyzing performance and training effectiveness data; and providing technical recommendations to improve system fidelity, reliability, and training outcomes.
  • The role collaborates closely with aviation program managers, trainers, simulation developers, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and logistics teams to ensure virtual aviation training systems align with Army aviation doctrine, safety requirements, and readiness objectives.



Requirements (Years of experience, Education, Certifications):



  • Minimum of 5 years experience supporting aviation simulation, virtual training systems, or military aviation engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with:

    • Virtual aviation simulators and training systems
    • Simulation integration and interoperability
    • System testing, validation, and sustainment
    • Aviation system interfaces and data integration
    • Support to training exercises or simulation events


  • Bachelor's degreein Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Simulation Engineering, or a related technical discipline
    Active Secret security clearance (required)



Nice to Have (skills that are not required, but nice to have):



  • Experience supporting Army aviation simulators, synthetic training environments, or LVC-G integration
  • Familiarity with:

    • Aviation simulation architectures and standards
    • Networking and data exchange for virtual training
    • Army aviation training doctrine and simulator accreditation processes


  • Prior operational aviation or aviation training background
  • Certifications or training in systems engineering or simulation technologies
