Senior QA & Test Automation Engineer (Gateway Services)

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior QA and Test Automation Engineer for a position located in Berkeley Heights, NJ 07922. This is a 6+ month contract-to-hire opportunity with a pay range of $55- $60 per hour.

This position is 100% remote.

Summary:

Our client is hiring a Senior QA and Test Automation Engineer to support Gateway Services products-high-throughput services that power transaction processing and related e-commerce/payment flows. You'll own functional and regression quality across multiple platforms with a strong emphasis on building and running automated test suites that improve release confidence, reduce defect leakage, and shorten regression cycles. You'll partner with global engineering and product stakeholders and operate with significant independence. The focus of this role is 70% automation and 30% manual testing.

Responsibilities:

• Design and execute automation-first test strategies for Gateway Services (functional + regression; performance where applicable).
• Build, enhance, and maintain test automation frameworks/tools to improve coverage, reliability, and execution speed.
• Create and manage test plans, test cases, and automated scripts aligned to requirements and risk.
• Execute targeted manual testing for new features, complex scenarios, UAT support, and investigative validation.
• Analyze failures, isolate root causes, log high-quality defects, and drive resolution with developers.
• Participate in test planning, quality reviews, and release readiness discussions; contribute to continuous improvement.
• Monitor automated runs for larger initiatives; communicate test status/results clearly to internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Proven background delivering QA with a heavy automation mix (~70%) plus hands-on manual testing (~30%).
• Strong experience testing APIs/services (gateway/integration-style systems); ability to validate responses, error handling, and downstream effects.
• Hands-on experience designing automated tests using a modern approach (tooling may include API automation frameworks, UI automation if applicable, and performance tooling when required).
• Solid debugging skills (logs, test evidence, reproducibility, triage discipline) and comfort working with distributed teams.
• Experience working in an Agile delivery model and collaborating across Dev/Product/QA stakeholders.

Desired skills:

• Payments or gateway domain exposure (e.g., transaction lifecycle concepts such as authorization, capture/settlement, refunds, reversals, tokenization, callbacks/webhooks).
• CI/CD integration experience (automated tests triggered as part of build/release gating; managing flakiness and runtime).
• Performance testing experience (load/latency/throughput analysis) and ability to interpret results.
• Familiarity with test data constraints and secure handling expectations common in financial/transaction systems.
