Cleveland-Cliffs LLC has an immediate opportunity for a Sr. Section Manager Operations Technology at one of our facilities in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. The Senior Section Manager, Operations Technology is a strategic leader who sets the direction for technology enabled operational excellence at the Monessen Coke Plant. This role owns the operations technology roadmap, leads cross functional improvement initiatives, and develops high performing teams to advance safety, quality, reliability, and cost performance. The position provides opportunities for upward mobility and guided development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build, mentor, and coach engineers, specialists, and section managers/supervisors; create a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.

  • Define the operations technology vision and 12-24month plan; prioritize initiatives aligned to plant and corporate goals.

  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and HSE to deliver plantwide improvements and resolve chronic issues.

  • Establish KPIs and dashboards; review production and quality trends; ensure timely root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Champion safety culture; ensure compliance and proactive risk mitigation; oversee audits, observations, and follow through on actions.

  • Guide standards for process control, testing plans, and work procedures; evaluate and approve changes that impact production or quality.

  • Recommend capital and technology investments; lead benchmarking with other plants; manage key vendor and contractor relationships.

  • Present performance, risks, and improvement plans to leadership; translate complex technical topics into clear business outcomes.

  • Achieve assigned goals and financial targets; continuously identify opportunities to improve conversion cost, yield, and reliability.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and proven experience in manufacturing operations.

  • Leadership experience of 5+ years leading technical or operations teams in industrial environments, with demonstrated ability to influence cross functional stakeholders.

  • Strong judgment, data analysis, and decision-making skills; ability to prioritize and deliver results in a fast-paced setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; builds trust across internal and external partners.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work in both office and industrial environments, including wearing required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, fall protection) and performing tasks involving heights, stairs, uneven surfaces, and extended periods of computer-based work.

  • Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in coke production, steelmaking, or heavy industrial settings.

  • Background in process engineering, operations technology, or reliability programs.

  • Lean/Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement certification experience leading CI portfolios.

  • Exposure industrial automation, MES/SCADA, or data analytics for manufacturing.

Relocation assistance may be considered for highly qualified candidates from outside the local area.
