Description

The Director of Engineering, Data & Analytics plays a pivotal leadership role in maturing and scaling Convergint Tech's data platform and engineering capabilities. This role drives operational excellence across data engineering, analytics, and BI engineering teams, ensuring consistent, reliable, and high-quality data and analytics products that enable impactful business decisions across the enterprise.

By providing hands-on technical guidance, strong people leadership, and a mindset of continuous improvement, this role helps design and run a high-performing, service-oriented engineering organization. The Director partners closely with the VP of Data & Analytics to shape departmental strategy, refine cross-functional engineering processes, and build a culture rooted in ownership, curiosity, integrity, and outstanding service for both internal and external customers.

The Director of Engineering, Data & Analytics is expected to perform the role in a manner that emulates Convergint's core Values and Beliefs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Engineering Delivery: Oversee day-to-day engineering execution across data pipeline development, data modeling, analytics engineering, and BI engineering. Ensure teams deliver trusted, maintainable, and performant data products that support business objectives.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Offer architectural guidance, participate in technical design reviews, and act as a sounding board for senior ICs. Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and aligned with modern engineering best practices.
  • Develop People & Build Leadership Capability: Manage and mentor engineering managers and senior ICs. Provide coaching on performance, communication, prioritization, and decision-making-including modeling and teaching managerial courage for tough conversations.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Instill a culture of experimentation and learning. Implement and iterate on processes that increase clarity, reliability, and efficiency across the engineering organization.
  • Co-Design Engineering Processes: Partner with the VP of Engineering to evolve cross-functional processes such as SDLC improvements, operational readiness, on-call structures, incident response practices, and reliability engineering frameworks.
  • Enhance Stakeholder Partnership: Partner deeply with business leaders to understand needs, clarify requirements, and align engineering work with strategic priorities. Represent the Data & Analytics engineering organization with clarity, integrity, and service-mindedness.
  • Balance Execution & Strategy: Maintain a 70/30 focus on near-term delivery vs. long-term strategic planning. Contribute to long term planning for team growth, platform evolution, capabilities, and technical roadmap.
  • Promote a Service-First Mindset: Ensure engineering teams provide excellent service to internal business partners, supporting them in achieving meaningful outcomes for Convergint's customers.
