Moog's Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for aSupplier Quality & Development Manager. Reporting to our Torrance Site, Supply Chain Director, you will have a 9/80 schedule option and work on-site at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA. The Supplier Quality & Development Manager has primary process responsibility for the assessment, approval, and ongoing audit of the Moog Military Aircraft Group supplier network.You are a key member of the Moog Military Aircraft Group Supply Chain Leadership Team and provides supplier quality management and technical leadership to the Torrance site. The team managed by you provide the primary control to assure the quality of externally supplied processing and manufacturing for parts that are incorporated into critical flight and engine control systems for Aerospace applications. Lead the team that acts as the primary interface between Moog and its supply base for quality and manufacturing related issues, including technical liaison for supplier issues. Maintain an ongoing audit program to validate the continued approval of Moog suppliers. Audits may take the form of business systems audits, product audits or process audits. Responsible for assessing, approving, and if necessary, disapproving suppliers located globally. Through the robust application of corrective actions (arising from both non-conforming products and services and from audit findings) the Supplier Quality & Development team is responsible for continuous development and improvement of the quality of suppliers' products and services to Moog. Where there is a deficiency in the performance of a currently approved supplier, the Supplier Quality & Development Manager leads the investigation to establish root cause, identify appropriate corrective actions, and verify closure. Responsible for collecting and analyzing performance data from the Moog Quality Systems data base TIPQA and for communication to Suppliers, and Customers and Moog leadership. Ensure that the Supplier Quality & Development team monitors and drives to achieve closure of supplier corrective actions that arise from audits and identified non-conformances. Serve as a member of the Moog Military Aircraft Group Supply Chain Team, driving quality strategy, compliance, and structured problem solving throughout the organization. Coach and mentor team members on a regular cadence (ex: one on one meetings, staff/department meetings, and regular performance/feedback sessions); must have the skills and capability required to supervise, managed, and lead direct reports. Lead and train cross-functional teams in formal problem-solving events including but not limited to 5Y, 8D, or similar Lean tools. Develop and drives Source Inspection activities at suppliers. Represents Moog as the Supplier Quality subject matter expert during customers and 3rd party accreditation audits. Willingness to travel to suppliers and/or customers as required (~10-15% of the time). Champion the use of APQP methodologies. Assess manufacturing capability as part of supplier selection or existing supplier gap analysis activity.
To be considered for the role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering or manufacturing discipline Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Supplier Quality/Technical management relating to manufacturing and processing of aerospace parts; managerial experience a plus Proven specific capabilities in Quality audit techniques - typically qualified as a lead assessor for the AS9100 standard and knowledgeable in special process accreditation requirements and pathways Proven general capabilities in the use of a wide range of software tools used in an advanced manufacturing business Experience of using structured problem-solving tools such as 5Y and 8D; Six Sigma Strong communication skills, in the form of written, verbal, and presentation to multiple levels of leadership (internally and externally) Strong data driven decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills Accomplished in Manufacturing Capability assessment and risk analysis Advanced level knowledge of core defect prevention tools (PFMEA, control plan, MSA, capability analysis, error proofing, etc.) Leadership experience

Black Belt or similar preferred Familiarity with SQL, Access databases, and data analysis Proven track record delivering process improvement results Strong interpersonal skills and team-based skills; ability to influence Experience working in the aerospace industry Experience with SAP
