THE ROLE:

We are looking for Chief board Engineer at AMD's GPU DC system design team. Chief board engineer is a high-ranking, senior-level technical role that oversees board engineering operations within the organization, including participating in pathfinding/concept studies, design execution, bring up, validation and product launch. They are responsible for the technical direction, quality, trade off analysis and complex board level debug, often acting as the technical leader for board design project.

THE PERSON:

As the Chief Board Engineer, you will be responsible for participating with System Architects in GPU products concept studies, board feasibility analysis, overseeing all the board development projects, leading trade off analysis between board/layout/Mech/thermal/Power etc and leading critical debugs/task force taking the design to production. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in electrical verification/validation, proven leadership capabilities, and exceptional communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Technical lead driving the board pathfinding and concept studies partnering with System/Platform architects, Thermal/Mech and Power teams.
• Define and drive new Tech readiness (TR) POCs which will de-risk execution. Work with Power, SI, T/M and PCB teams in driving those new technologies into production
• Trade off analysis between various functions in meeting the product level requirements
• Work across all the HW/Board leads in overseeing board design process and leading board architecture closures. Responsible to define board level architecture for production as well as non production boards.
• Leading quality board design reviews
• Working with board validation and bring up team in defining/reviewing the board test coverage. Defining the NUDDs and developing strategies to validate NUDD board features.
• Leading task force to debug complex board issues interfacing board, power, FW/SW team and bringing closure to system level issues
• Driving Pre production and post production board failure analysis
• Acting as technical DRI for board engineering team in all the key program team meetings
• Leading innovation and PCB technology development across the team

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Extensive knowledge of Data center system architecture, Board design, technical debug, and validation strategy
• Experience working in CPU and GPU system design, board design
• Sound knowledge of board, power, signal Integrity, thermal/mech designs
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details
• Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion
• Debug techniques and methodologies
• Extremely well communication skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor or Master's degree in computer engineering or computer science
