About the Job

*Duties/responsibilities
-assist in performing directed high end scientific research and activities in computational mechanics, FEM/Particle methods, time integration and analysis (60%);
-help to write quality research proposals to government agencies and industry, prepare/assist in journal research papers/book chapters/directed lecture materials, and development of software tools for numerical analysis based prediction and comparisons for verification and validation (30%); and
-other related duties as assigned (10%).

This position is not eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

*Required qualifications include:
-Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
-Mathematical and computational experience in academic research lab environment
-Software programming for scientific simulations
-Interdisciplinary and multi-physics relevant strong background
-Design of computational algorithms for 1st /2nd order time dependent systems.

*Preferred qualifications include:
-Mechanics background
-Nonlinear developments

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has an internationally recognized faculty, and is part of the College of Science and Engineering, the highly interdisciplinary college of engineering, physical sciences, and mathematics.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $61,008 - $61,010; depending on education/qualifications/experience
