Responsibilities
  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy: Assess, diagnose, and implement nutrition care plans tailored to each patient's needs. Monitor outcomes such as weight, labs, wound healing, and clinical progress.
  • Educate & Empower: Offer nutrition education to patients, families, staff, and the community. Develop patient-centered materials and resources that support understanding and long-term health.
  • Collaborate with Care Teams: Participate in rounds, patient care conferences, and interdisciplinary meetings. Communicate with providers to ensure safe, cost-effective, and high-quality nutrition therapy.
  • Lead & Mentor: Guide dietetic technicians, interns, and students in delivering nutrition care. Contribute to hospital projects, quality improvement initiatives, and policy development.
  • Drive Quality & Safety: Implement clinical projects, maintain the enteral formulary, and help advance patient safety goals in nutrition services.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 1+ year working with frail or elderly populations - Preferred
  • 6+ months transporting individuals with special mobility needs - Strongly Preferred

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association, required within 30 days
  • Valid Iowa Chauffeur's License - Required upon hire
  • Proof of Auto Insurance - Required upon hire
  • Child & Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (IA & IL) - Required within 30 days
