Provide assistance along with operational and instructional support for Cosmetology related programs.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the major responsibilities and requirements of the job. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated on this description.

  1. Oversee operations of WCTC's Style and Class Salon. Ensure proper functioning and sanitation of salon equipment, maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the Salon in compliance with health and safety standards. Assist in promoting Style and Class Salon services within and outside the college.
  2. Assist in mentoring/training Cosmetology program students which includes training students in front desk reception duties, and responding to general student questions.
  3. Monitor, maintain and manage inventory.
  4. Manage client booking software and act as the software administrator.
  5. Serve as process/program resource for Cosmetology staff and faculty.
  6. Provide direction to student workers.
  7. Assist in facilitating with service learning opportunities & events. Maintain accurate records of event attendees, attend events and assist faculty with set up for events. Be available to assist with tours or visits by prospective students and/or clients.
  8. Respond to phone calls and emails from clients and industry professionals. Monitor salon sales/revenue, generate reports for Dean, AD and instructors, maintain accurate bookings,
  9. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.
  10. Participate in and contribute to assignments and special projects of a similar nature and level.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of procedures, practices, equipment and terminology related to the Cosmetology program
  • Familiarity with related health and safety practices
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening
  • Ability to work effectively with students and all levels of staff
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work processes
  • Ability to multi-task, work on and coordinate several activities/projects simultaneously, and an aptitude to work under pressure
  • Ability to manage time, organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and/or with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make routine repairs and adjustments on related equipment
  • Intermediate level computer software application skills in word processing and spreadsheets
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Cosmetology instructors license
  • License in Cosmetology
  • Experience managing, guiding and training in a full-service salon

Supplemental Information

This position supports the cosmetology department and is available to start on/or before January 31st.

This position is fulltime and benefit eligible.

Monday-Thursday-3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Friday-1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Saturday-8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
