Department Chairperson - Mathematics and Statistics 43146BR Mathematics and Statistics Position Description The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenured Professor to serve as Department Chair beginning September 1, 2026. While appointed to this position, you will accrue vacation and will be required to report leave monthly following TTU's Operating Policy 70.01 and TTU System Regulation 07.12. About the College Founded in 1925 as one of the university's four original colleges, the College of Arts & Sciences is comprised of 15 departments and one program, offering a wide variety of courses and programs in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, and natural sciences. The College enrolls 10,309 students (8,721 undergrad and 1,588 grad), representing approximately a quarter of the overall Texas Tech University student population while maintaining a 22:1 student to faculty ratio. The College is responsible for teaching a majority of the University's core curriculum, teaching approximately half of the generated student credit hours (471,717 of 1,150,241 student credit hours in FY2024-25). About the Department/School/Area The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Texas Tech is one of the largest departments on campus. It includes 48 tenured and tenure-track faculty lines, 6-8 postdoctoral associates each year, and an annual average of 15 lecturers and professors of practice. As of fall 2025, the Department enrolls 184 undergraduate majors, and 125 graduate students, with 100 of them being supported full-time as graduate part-time instructors, teaching assistants, or research assistants.
