The Production Manager has the primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations and management of the personnel and infrastructure; including operations and maintenance of buildings, equipment and utilities.
- Responsible for production staff results by communicating job expectations; hourly/daily/weekly production goals, planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance; coaching employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the technical management and control of production by estimating projects, supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work flow.
- Provides direction for the accomplishment of project specific tasks and company goals and objectives.
- Reviews proposals from customers and assesses technical feasibility of the proposed process and product.
- Determines project specifications by studying design, customer requirements, and performance standards. The review process may require technical discussion with the customer to clarify design specifications and/or expectations.
- Fosters and maintains strong working relationships with all WMW Project Team members including QA, Procurement, Safety, IT and any other technical personnel.
- Works closely with Project Team to develop fabrication processes; researching, designing, and recommending modifications to existing equipment and conferring with equipment vendors.
- Works closely with WMW Project Management Team to provide processing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Works closely with QA Manager/Dept to develop project plans for fabricating and/or machining products that meets quality assurance goals.
- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the project work flow.
- Works closely with Quality, Safety and Facilities personnel in required data capturing/reporting for maintaining certifications.
- Supports the production of shop drawings to supplement project production plans.
- Responsible for leading daily/weekly project team meetings/huddles for ongoing review of project status and schedules as well as to communicate necessary adjustments regarding shop personnel schedules and assignments.
- Provides daily and weekly production information to management by compiling, initiating, and sorting production performance records and data via production and quality assurance logs and other data collection documents.
- Works closely with Safety and Facilities personnel to ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Works closely with the Safety personnel to maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains staff by directing, orienting and training Shop employees; developing personal and professional growth opportunities.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree and at least five (5) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Proven ability to apply Lean manufacturing principles and systems.
- 10 years of experience with machining and/or welding, or equivalent schooling

Working Conditions Works in a fabrication shop environment. Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
- Ability to perform moderate to labor intense work, occasionally lifting heavy items exceeding 50 LBS, non-repetitive, up to 25 pounds frequently, repetitively performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching for extended periods of time.
- Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort.
