Our Military Aircraft Group is currently seeking a Director, Quality & Business Excellence in Torrance, California. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all operations-related activities within Quality, Logistics, Continuous Improvement and Inventory Management. You'll be responsible for leading and influencing a highly effective, results-oriented team of around 50 people.

You will report directly to the Torrance General Manager and work on-site in Torrance, California.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical discipline.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing operations and/or quality leadership experience. This experience should include quality management, continuous improvement, and problem solving.

    • Relevant industry (Aerospace) experience is highly desirable.

    • Integrated Business Planning and Inventory management preferred.

  • Strong process leadership and relationship-building skills with both internal and external customers.

  • A proven track record of driving results and improving business performance through effective leadership.

  • Demonstrated success in leading change, managing ambiguity, and influencing others to achieve successful outcomes.

  • The ability to develop and execute strategic objectives by aligning, challenging, and partnering across all functions, sites, and divisions.

  • Demonstrated business and technical acumen, with the ability to engage the right organizational resources to resolve customer problems efficiently.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, as well as excellent communication abilities at all levels, both internally and externally.

  • Experience in budgeting and cost control management.

  • The ability to influence all functions across the Military Aircraft Group that impact operations.

As the Director, Quality & Business Excellence, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead a cross-functional team of managers across various Operational disciplines, including Quality, Logistics, and Integrated Business Planning/Materials Management.

  • Serve on the site senior leadership team to support decision-making and alignment that aim to achieve customer, employee, and business objectives.

  • Drive a quality culture and mindset that supports a "Right First Time" approach.

  • Manage the execution and improvement of Quality processes, in collaboration with individual process owners and teams in Torrance and East Aurora. Act as Site liaison to Division/Group level Quality Director and team.

  • Manage a timely and effective customer Notice of Escape process.

  • Oversee the Site's AS9100 certification, the annual certification audit and all associated internal audits.

  • Guide and coordinate Root Cause Analysis processes in dealing with product and process quality issues. The goal is to eliminate the recurrence of issues by applying robust solutions.

  • Drive a site strategy for inventory management and align site with Division level Integrated Business Planning expectations associated with short term and long-range financial planning.

  • Ensure smooth and effective day-to- day operations in the areas of Stockroom, Shipping and Receiving, as well as Receiving Inspection, Calibration and Internal Audit.

  • Oversee the Site's Continuous Improvement and Lean journey, including training, project selection and completions and use of 80/20 principles. Establish, manage, and deliver according to P&L targets, including revenue, cash flow, headcount, operating expenses, and capital budget.

  • Partner with the Military and Commercial Aircraft Divisions to support effective communication with the customer, while working with the respective divisional leadership teams, including Program Management, Quality, and Engineering.

  • Consistently demonstrate Moog leadership values and culture.

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $180,000.00-$230,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
