Assistant Operations Manager

Primary Function

The Assistant Operations Manager supports the Operations Manager in overseeing the daily functions of an ICE detention facility. This role ensures operational continuity, compliance with ICE detention standards, and coordination across departments including security, case management, food services, and medical support.

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity International is recognized. Actively support and uphold the Company's stated vision, mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily facility operations to ensure safety, security, and compliance.

  • Supervise and support department leads in executing operational plans and schedules.

  • Monitor staff performance and assist with training, scheduling, and evaluations.

  • Coordinate with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), contractors, and internal teams.

  • Respond to operational issues and emergencies, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Support audits, inspections, and reporting activities.

  • Maintain documentation related to staffing, incidents, and compliance.

  • Assist in budget tracking, procurement, and vendor coordination.

  • Promote adherence to ICE Performance-Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS).

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business, or related field.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facility operations or detention management.

  • DHS SSBI clearance or eligibility to obtain one.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with ICE detention standards and secure facility operations.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, secure environment.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant languages) preferred.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain favorable background investigations

  • Must be proficient in English; able to receive and understand detailed information through oral and written communication.

  • Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, Resided in the US for 3 years in the past 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DHS or ICE experience

  • CPR/First Aid certification

  • Has undergone a federal investigation at the level of Tier 2 or higher; has been granted favorable suitability/eligibility and has not had a break in service for more than 24 months.

  • Ability to travel

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs

  • Work is performed in a secure detention facility.

  • May require evening, weekend, or on-call hours.

  • Exposure to operational emergencies and sensitive situations.
