Job Description

SUMMARY
Direct the overall focus of many salaried and hourly personnel concentrating on safety, customer service, productivity, cost, and throughout. Try to ensure a proper, healthy, ergonomically acceptable, and pleasant working environment that results in accomplishing Company goals, department goals, and individual goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Bar Mill functions including Rolling, Cold Finish Processing, Cutoff/Etch, Inspection, Utility, and Shipping with a strong interface with Bar Mill Maintenance. Additional reporting departments include Production Control, Item Engineering, Traffic, Receiving, and MRO Inventory Crib with a strong interface with our Dunkirk Operation. These departments and function relate to the entire New Hartford Operation.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Personally participate in safety tours, safety audits, accident investigation, safety enhancements to equipment and process. Lead a safe working mentality by constantly mentoring supervision and by talking to as many floor personnel as practical. Insist on the maintenance of a physically clean and organized working environment.
2. Provide proper manning levels in all departments to support necessary throughput required to meet commitments to customers and upper management. Advise upper management on plant and equipment needs to support existing or anticipated volume requirements.
3. Continually work with Bar Mill Maintenance Supervision ensuring that proper preventative maintenance is being performed on all equipment and that all Bar Mill supervision is also supporting these activities.
4. Work with Production control personnel to continuously refine, debug, and improve our electronic systems to support both customer and Company requirements. Personally provide hands on training and facilitate outside training for improved understanding and ability. Ensure proper planning takes place when customer deliveries are quoted and resulting orders are planned.
5. Work with Item Engineering ensuring the timely and correct implementation of new items and maintenance of existing ones.
6. Directly support all departments, personnel, product lines and our other Divisions relative to Oracle electronic processing and error correction.
7. Personally comply with all Company policies, rules, and regulations from both a moral and a legal standpoint.
8. Be a leader in teamwork, the formation and support of teams, and ensure that all subordinate supervision do the same.
9. Work with our Union Locals to lead them in support of our Company Goals and Objective by honoring the content and intent our negotiating Union Contracts.
10. Support our MRO, Raw Material (some of whom are our customers), and any other suppliers by providing them with a safe receiving environment and a fair and efficient process.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Incumbent will possess a BS in Engineering, business or related field or equivalent job experience. Must have 10 years of progressive experience.. Desired work experience would include responsibility which reflects success in leadership roles gained though work in a process manufacturing environment, and thorough knowledge of Lean manufacturing skills set using Theory of Constraint, Six Sigma, and Value Stream mapping.

Relocation is authorized for this position.



For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $124,500 to $186,800 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2.5X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
