About the Hiring Group

The successful candidate will be part of Global Technology Solutions (GTS) within the OPS Technology Public Sector Cloud Environment Department. The GTS group caters to the diverse technology needs of RTI and its effort to digitally transform the Institute. GTS provides technical support, resources and services to help staff work efficiently and effectively in compliance with RTI policies. GTS also aims to provide technology solutions to support the Institute's Business Units, General and Administrative functions, and make RTI a global leader in finding innovative solutions to technological challenges.


What You'll Do

The Senior System Applications Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining applications, including web services and database components, in support of business requirements.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Install, configure, and maintain applications, including web services and database components, in support of business requirements.
  • Perform application software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Develop and promote standard operation procedures.
  • Carry out procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements.
  • Assist in the testing of software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.
  • Document and work to resolve basic problems.
  • Interface with vendor support service groups when appropriate to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Report progress on problem resolution to management.
  • Represent increasing levels of responsibility in different size work groups operating with different levels of autonomy and therefore experience required.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience, Master's degree and 3 years of experience or PhD and 0 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques and software design.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to listen and communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
