Primary Purpose of Position
The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the Program Manager for the Industrial Solutions Laboratory in the Lee College of Engineering reporting to the ISL Director. The ISL Program Manager oversees the business side of the Senior Design Program and all of the Industry relationships in the Program.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Job Duties
Reporting to the Director of the Industrial Solutions Lab ( ISL), this position serves as the ISL Program Manager. The Program Manager manages the business side of the Senior Design Program and all of the Industry relationships in the Program. ISL also provides a service to Faculty for consulting engagements.
Other Work Responsibilities
The Industrial Solutions Lab in the College of Engineering supports over 500 students per year working on an estimated 90 projects solving real world challenges. These interdisciplinary projects span 2 semesters and most are funded by industry sponsors. Students have access to state-of-the-art design and collaboration tools, multiple fabrication facilities and design labs.

The Program Manager oversees the business side of the lab including:

  • Purchasing materials needed for senior design projects
  • Purchasing equipment, services, supplies, etc for the lab
  • Overseeing student and temp employee hiring and payroll reconciliation
  • Managing student employees who assist with purchasing and events
  • Perform all accounting and reconciliation for ISL revenues and expenditures using the University accounting systems
  • Maintain process procedures for all department activities
  • Process travel expenses for ISL Director and student travelers.
  • Maintain and report on ISL budget on a monthly basis
  • Serve as the subject matter expert to student teams and other ISL staff as regards program operations and University business processes
  • Reconcile all ISL accounts at academic year end.
  • Plan and execute 4 high profile events each year with hundreds of guests representing students, industry supporters, faculty and guests. This includes sending invitations, reserving venues, ordering food, setting up venues, processing all attendees.
  • Provide effective support for the ISL Director and the Senior Design Chair
  • Provide a welcoming and supportive experience for students in the Senior Design course

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • A bachelor's degree in Business or similar is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite tools and Google Suite required.
  • 5+ years experience in a finance/accounting/office work capacity is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge and application experience in the Engineering field would be a plus.
  • Candidates must have an interest and passion for teamwork and customer service.
