Description
As an Operations Accounting Analyst, you'll turn project and resource data into clear insights-building reports, partnering with Project Managers, and backing up Operations Accountants to keep project financials accurate and timely. You'll help drive forecasting, billing readiness, collections support, and decisionquality analytics across programs and business units.
- Prepare monthly project variance reports to notify leaders of projects performing differently than expected.
- Provide periodic and special operations reports and analyses-with interpretation and recommendations (e.g., utilization reporting to monitor chargeable hour goals).
- Assist in establishing project budgets and bill rates; maintain assumptions and change history for transparency.
- Support Project Managers with financial control activities: current/timely billings and collections; direct expense recording, allocation, and reimbursement; feasibility studies and profitability analysis; costtocomplete calculations.
- Participate in the establishment, coordination, and administration of systems, processes, and tools focused on project monitoring, utilization reporting, resource management, and AR collection.
- Review project files to verify proper documentation (e.g., executed contract agreements) and alignment with firm standards.
- Review compensation and billing terms in contracts for consistency with firm goals and standards.
- Test application/accounting software changes to verify accuracy and data integrity; document findings and retest resolutions.
- Prepare complex bills for Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) projects in coordination with Operations Accountants and Project Managers.
- Prepare schedules for annual financial and project audits; respond to auditor information requests.
- Back up Operations Accountant duties as needed to support peak workloads and coverage.
Who We're Looking For Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
- Three to five years applicable analysis or audit experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Access familiarity is a plus.
- Knowledge of project accounting concepts; ability to interpret jobcost, backlog, utilization, and AR data.
- Analytical mindset with clear written and verbal communication; ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
- Detailoriented, organized, and deadlinedriven; able to orchestrate multiple activities efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus to partner effectively with Project Managers and internal teams.
