Acara Solutions is seeking highly qualified candidates to work onsite with our client in Panama City, FL. Interested?

Here's what you'd do:

  • The client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee and enforce safety protocols on active U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) construction sites.
  • The SSHO will ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations-including EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards.
  • Ensure compliance with the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and all applicable safety policies.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and operational practices.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to maintain compliance with safety standards.
  • Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; develop and document corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Maintain complete and accurate safety documentation, including logs, permits, inspection reports, and training records.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and the client's corporate safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to verify their safety programs and training meet project-specific requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for all safety-related matters.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify hazards and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.

  • Hours: 40 Hours/Week -1st Shift

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety
  • Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience in construction safety, preferably on federal or large-scale commercial projects
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Experience working with government contracts and compliance standards (e.g., USACE, NAVFAC).
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
  • Must possess-or be willing and able to obtain within 6 months-a CHST, ASP, or CSP certification.
  • EM 385-1-1 training and prior experience
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English/Spanish.
