Overview

As an Engineering Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in our team-oriented environment. Under the direction and supervision of experienced engineers and project managers, you will contribute to power/renewable energy, commercial, industrial/manufacturing, and oil and gas development projects. You will also spend time in the field and traveling to and from sites. You will participate in the following aspects of the engineering design process which will include opportunities for task leadership responsibilities:

    Perform inspections by traveling to construction sites to monitor progress and conformance with plans and specifications
  • Observe and document the installation of erosion and sediment (E&S) and post-construction stormwater management (PCSM) controls in general accordance with the approved plans, applicable regulations, permit requirements, specifications, and commitments
  • Perform inspections of existing E&S/PCSM controls following precipitation events
  • Prepare daily field reports and/or weekly inspection reports for completeness and provide copies to the Project Manager
  • Assist with infiltration testing fieldwork, data collection, and completing field forms
  • Review local ordinance requirements to assist with developing site layouts
  • Provide CAD support and assist in the development of E&S, stormwater conveyance, and PCSM designs
  • Prepare supporting calculations, narratives, and reports
  • Prepare quantity estimates for use in contractor solicitation and payment application reviews


Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree, or appropriate experience
  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD is preferred
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to drive a pickup truck
  • Ability to work independently in the field in varying weather conditions with strict adherence to operating procedures and safety policies
  • Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and good communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others
