Machinist

Job Information

The Machinist is responsible for operating machines in support of daily valve repair operations. The machinist is expected to perform hands-on machining operations, as well as perform some duties of a valve technician.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the fabrication of various components of valves
• Responsible for the daily operations of various manual machines, including but not limited to lathes, vertical turret lathes, milling machines, drill press & radial arm drills
• Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly and testing of valves at Flotech facilities and client locations
• Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and ASME National Board standards that apply to the job
• Thoroughly complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs
• Travel to job sites and adhere to all site safety and performance requirements
• Communicate timely updates to management, co-workers and customers to ensure timely and successful completion of job responsibilities
• Works closely with co-workers, management and safety coordinator to ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED and at least five (5) years of machinist experience, or equivalent number of years of education and experience
• Proficient in use of multiple manual machines in an industrial setting. Extensive knowledge of machining is a must
• Prefer experience with machining specifically for valve repair
• Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel for off-site jobs
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

• Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions
• Occasionally loud noise (examples: shop tool noises, electric motors, moving mechanical equipment)
