DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Cook 1, you will prepare food, follow recipes, and ensure safe, sanitary operations in the dietary department. You will operate kitchen equipment, check food items for quality, and cook meats, vegetables, casseroles, soups, and sauces. You will also, prepare special meals for meetings, banquets, and parties; bake desserts including cakes, pies, and cupcakes; and sanitize cooking utensils, equipment, and work surfaces used in food preparation. This role requires the ability to assign, coordinate, review routine food production tasks to determine the most efficient methods of preparation. In addition, you will complete inventory sheets, requisition cooking ingredients and supplies, and develop and test new recipes. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 2nd shift (10:30 AM to 7:00 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days, weekends, and holidays.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualification (not required):
- Experience in cooking or food preparation; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or training
- Previous formal baking training
- Possess current licenses and/or certifications
- Current ServSafe certification or other safety certifications
- Experience as a baker in a large volume preparation operation
- Experience using and converting standardized recipes
- Experience mixing, proofing, and finishing yeast raised products in a large scale food service operation
- Experience baking and decorating cakes and pastries
- Experience in food service operations for geriatric and/or physically ill patient/resident populations
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
