The Opportunity:
This position is responsible for handling, shipping, and preparing samples for testing and analysis. The individual also plays a role in instrument calibration, operation, and the management of data flow within the laboratory.

In this role, you will report to the Onsite Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Cambridge, MA

Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Hourly Rate: $26.00

What we're looking for

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years in a lab environment involving sample handling, equipment use.

  • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred

  • Certification in Aseptic Techniques

  • Training in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Safety and Hazardous Materials Handling certification

  • Laboratory Equipment Operation and Calibration training.

  • Strong organizational skills for sample cataloging, inventory management, and accurate labeling

  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure traceability and data integrity

  • Effective time management and communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Professional demeanor with a focus on customer service excellence

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently and accurately in a laboratory setting

  • Proficiency in equipment operation and calibration, SOP compliance, and data management

How you will thrive and create an impact

Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

  • Execute compound processing workflows, including checking and weighing vials, preparing solutions from dry powders, and adding solutions to workflows. Aliquot solutions into appropriate containers (tubes, vials, plates) based on assay requirements, label as needed, and dispatch to recipients. Archive remaining compounds as required.
  • Archive vials and solution tubes in accordance with established inventory management SOPs.
  • Fulfill orders received through the global ordering system: review requests for accuracy and compound availability, release requests, and process orders (powder weighing, solution aliquoting, or plate preparation).
  • Communicate frequently with customers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of requests.
  • Prepare domestic and international shipments following SOPs and compliance guidelines.
  • Provide monthly KPI reports and participate in progress/improvement meetings with stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
