Department Overview

Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Major Infrastructure Delivery is largely a field-based organization made up of over 11,000 coworkers and contractors that ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to approximately 16 million people throughout a 70,000 square-mile service area in northern and central California. The organization is accountable for the company's program to underground 10,000 miles of electric distribution lines to reduce wildfire risk, the System Inspection Program to identify potential risks to the safety and reliability of the system, and Vegetation Management to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electricity. The Quality Management team supports the Major Infrastructure Delivery organization to meet or exceed established operational targets, including compliance requirements, KPIs, budget, and risk reduction strategies that support the company's Purpose, Virtutes and Stands.

Position Summary

The Electric Process Improvement team in the Quality Management group provides oversight and support of electric compliance program , procedures and tools for both Transmission and Distribution. The group will provide oversight for the development of technical training and develop enhancements for engineering and estimating procedures. The incumbents adhere to all company and regulatory safety requirements and practices and incorporate into their work.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. The location is flexible but must be able to travel to Dublin frequently.

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Bay Area - $114,000 - $162,800

And/or

California - $108,000 - $155,100

Job Responsibilities

  • Is assigned specific tasks and projects that are moderately complex and may impact a large process or part of Electric Operations. Takes direction from both Principal and Manager. Works independently under general guidance.
  • Analyzes data regarding processes, standards. Makes observations and conclusions, including recommendations regarding improvements or simplifications to improve efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality, etc. Responsible for developing new innovative solution Transmission, and Distribution.
  • Develops new innovative processes for quality control processes and tools that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the projects produced for construction. Determines how to improve existing processes.
  • Actively seeks methods to improve processes, productivity, and reduce costs to maintain competitive edge. Develop simplified quality control procedures.
  • Streamlines electric operations standards for quality control work processes. Responsible for continual improvement of existing engineering Transmission, Substation, and Distribution quality control processes and estimating tools. May partner with the Engineering Standards teams during process evaluation and data analysis.
  • Reports the data, observations and recommendations to Principal level peers and manager who evaluate and determine further actions, improvements or recommendations.
  • May deliver presentations to Manager or Director explaining data analysis findings and making recommendations.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 6 years

Desired:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in business, job-related, 7 years
  • Experience in engineering
  • Understanding of distribution and/or transmission system and standards.
  • Knowledge of process flow and process management.
  • Knowledge of construction standards.
