Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid. A leader in cutting-edge research and technology in the cyber arena, CPMG focuses on using business drivers to guide cybersecurity activities and manage risk. CPMG offers flexible, integrative solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) contractors, among others, and specializes in cybersecurity, information and operational technology, electronic security surveillance, and support services. Summary: The Generator Technician is responsible for completing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on generators of various types and conditions at US Embassies and Consulates worldwide. This position requires 100% international travel. This work involves the deployment of cleared American staff for maintenance and repair of overseas facilities worldwide. During deployments, technicians will travel from location to location to location for short site visits. Locations are in approximately 170 different countries around the world.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Understand and comply with all necessary safety procedures and regulations.
- Provide exceptional service and communication to clients.
- Communicate and coordinate both internally and with external stakeholders to ensure all parties are informed of work scopes, issues and safety concerns.
- Maintain and repair generator equipment to include, but not limited to: generators, automatic transfer switches, load banks, and fuel systems on mission critical generators.
- Inspect and test generator systems performance and output to ensure it meets specifications and requirements.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in generators and related systems.
- Complete PM on equipment within the Statement of Work (SOW) per the appropriate checklist.
- Work with the Locally Embassy Staff whenever possible to perform on the job training while completing work.
- Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) to document all the recommended spare parts, repair parts, and tools associated with the equipment serviced
- Coordinate any outages required for maintenance or repairs, including a Facility Load Test for all generators
- Complete all required reports to include checklists, trip reports and work order
- Remain current on professional trade licenses and any applicable building code revisions.
- Work is 100% overseas at multiple locations and involves large amounts of travel.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual and technical labor safely, such as climbing ladders, working on rooftops and be able to lift and carry materials/tools in excess of 25lbs.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Ability to logically diagnosis system faults under pressure.
- Working collaboratively with teammates and Local Embassy Staff.
- Polite, service-oriented attitude with focus on client satisfaction.
- Must be able to deploy overseas and work in various environments (hot, humid, or cold regions).
- Be knowledgeable and able to comply with all company, site-specific, and safety regulations (ASHRAE, NFPA 70E, OSHA and Electrical Generating Systems Association).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of a State approved/accredited or military program that provided formal training in electrical generating and/or power transfer equipment.
- Must have experience with OCONUS travel
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
- Must have the physical ability to travel overseas 100%.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination for duty.
- Level 1 / Apprentice requires:
- At least 5-7 years of related experience as a qualified Generator Technician (see above qualifications). Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and standard service repairs on most brands/types of new and older generators, transfer switches, and load banks listed in the IMAP Generator SOW. Replaces failed parts and troubleshoots observed deficiencies according to specifications and established safety guidelines, under supervision of Senior Generator technicians. Able to source and recommend required maintenance equipment and supplies/materials as required to complete maintenance tasks and improve processes/efficiencies. May require additional training and guidance on maintenance/troubleshooting procedures for equipment from one or more manufacturer of equipment listed in the IMAP Generator SOW. Typically paired with a level 3 or level 4 Generator Technician.
- Level 2 / Journeyman requires:
- At least 7-10 years of related experience as a qualified Generator Technician (see above qualifications). Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and standard service repairs on all brands/types of new and older generators, transfer switches, and load banks listed in the IMAP Generator SOW. Replaces failed parts and troubleshoots observed deficiencies according to specifications and established safety guidelines, typically without guidance or supervision. Able to source and recommend required maintenance equipment and supplies/materials as required to complete maintenance tasks and improve processes/efficiencies. Works independently within established procedures associated with the IMAP Generator SOW. Typically paired with a level 3 or level 4 Generator Technician.
- Level 3 / Master requires:
- At least 10+ years of related experience as a qualified Generator Technician (see above qualifications). Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and standard service repairs on all brands/types of new and older generators, transfer switches, and load banks listed in the IMAP Generator SOW. Able to troubleshoot and resolve issues with all equipment types listed in the IMAP Generator SOW without supervision. Able to replace any part associated with all equipment types listed in the IMAP Generator SOW, and perform limited overhaul maintenance procedures and equipment adjustment. Able to source and recommend required maintenance equipment and supplies/materials as required to complete maintenance tasks and improve processes/efficiencies. Can potentially perform the duties of a team leader, to include resolving logistical issues that arise, relay required information to the IMAP Office, and provide training/guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 Generator Technicians.
- Level 4 / Superintendent requires:
- At least 10+ years of related experience as a qualified Generator Technician (see above qualifications), and at least 1 year as an IMAP technician. In addition to the ability to perform all the tasks/duties associated with a Level 3 Generator technician, expected to perform the duties of a team leader, to include resolving logistical issues that arise, relay required information to the IMAP Office, and provide training/guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 Generator Technicians. Able to use all resources available to solve unique and complex Power Generation issues. Expected to be an ambassador for the IMAP contract in all situations, and go above and beyond to improve and optimize program operations.
