GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Operational Excellence for Henry Ford Hospital, the Program Manager will lead various business and system related projects of a highly complex nature for the organization. Programs may include a group of related projects, based on the size and strategic alignment. The program manager will support departments in achievement of their strategic goals by assisting in the timely and cost-effective delivery of all projects with a professional, motivated, and customer-focused manner.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Uses skills in ideation, facilitation, strategic planning, and relationship management to bring together multiple teams in the organization and create the overall vision, strategy alignment, scope, roadmap, business case, and cohesive plan for executing the assigned program.
  2. Maintains program metrics, milestone charts, roadmap, schedule, and reporting on project health and progress against goals.
  3. Manages the program team, supporting technical teams, and vendor teams, as applicable.
  4. Develops program success KPIs, ensures program-level value is being realized, and leverages reporting mechanisms to monitor performance.
  5. Manages timing, quality, and financial results of programs from start to finish, to meet customer needs and ensure winning performance of the product and the services provided.
  6. Primary point of communication with strong cross-functional stakeholder management skills for business and IT partners for the assigned program; maintaining strong partnerships and ensuring timely and accurate communication of program updates.
  7. Leverages program documentation and action-oriented behavior to navigate ambiguity and seek clarity as priorities change.
  8. Manages risks, issues within the program, and escalates to senior leadership as required.
  9. Promotes individual professional growth and development; serves as mentor and resource to less experienced project managers.
  10. Leverages creative, "out-of-the-box" thinking to develop original solutions to overcome roadblocks and meet or exceed project requirements and expectations.
  11. Manages post implementation support and provide post implementation project review.
  12. Support procurement processing of RFPs, Vendor Contracting, Purchase Orders, and other contract-related artifacts.
  13. Leads Agile processes and ceremonies, including stand up meetings, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and story mapping.
  14. Acts as a subject matter expert providing project management methodology consulting to program team members.
  15. Manages the program budget, including the review of financial reports, invoices, trends, and forecasts.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.

* Five (5) years of experience in healthcare delivery, project management, and running large projects of a complex nature required.

* Two (2) years of experience in technology related areas, including application development or new product implementation required.

* Two (2) years of experience using data to drive business decisions preferred.

* Experience with agile delivery methodologies (i.e., Scrum, Scrum at Scale) preferred.

* Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong presentation skills.

* Must be able to work autonomously with strong task management skills.

Work Schedule

  • Standard day shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.
  • Primarily on-site role; candidates should expect to work in-person 4 days per week, with 1 day per week remote.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience in healthcare project or program management, especially in hospital operations or care delivery transformation.
  • Ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build consensus across teams.
  • Proficiency in basic data analysis (Excel, Tableau, or similar); ability to interpret throughput metrics and operational trends.
  • Strong skills in root cause analysis, workflow/process mapping, and solution design.
  • Interest in or experience with academic research or publication is highly desirable.

Preferred Training & Background

  • Project Management: PMP or other formal PM training.
  • Quality & Process Improvement: IHI courses or Lean Six Sigma training
  • Data Analysis: Experience with hospital performance metrics; familiarity with data visualization or reporting tools.
  • Academic/Research Background (preferred): Experience supporting or co-authoring research publications or conference abstracts.
